Sky Cab and Rental Cars

My hubby always wants to do things himself so we never used sky cab until last trip. When the towncar (Quicksliver, very good by the way) dropped us off the Sky Cb man grabbed our stuff loaded it unto a cart and even checked us in. It was so great, the best $10 tip I paid the WHOLE trip. I loved it. I wanted to kiss the man. I can't belive we have been missing this all those years, especailly now that we have 2 small kids. That trip we also had my 13 year old niece to help. At the Detroit we had so much stuff that we had to push our luggage, and then go back for the double stroller (in line) the stranger behind us ended up pushing it for us. Sky cab would have been so much eaiser. Also does Sky cab always check you in? that was great.

We are flying Spirit.

Now we are going with both kids (6 checked luaggage, carry ones and a double stroller and a infant car seat that doesn't fit on the the stroller)and I don't know how we are going to do it with out help. We are renting a car. Will sky cab (or something like that) help you load your luggage onto a cart and take it over to the car rental desk and then over to the lot? If they don't what should we do? Is there carts you can rent? What would you tip for something like that? Also how do you work it when returning the car? I know we can't get all our luggage and the kids back from the parking garage ourselves. (we are using National, right on site.)

Thanks so much. Trying to figure out how to make this work with 2 little kids! (baby and 4 year old). :)

Thanks!!!!

Gate check the stroller, put the children in the stroller when you arrive, one of you carry the car seat, load the stroller, if possible with the carry ons. Go to the luggage pick up, rent one of those handy dandy smart carts, 3.00 cash, debit or credit card. Roll the stroller, luggage cart (now holding car seat) over to the car garage. Load car, kids, etc.
On the way back, unload at your airlines entrance Have dad take car and older child with him. You watch the luggage and younger child (or proceed to use the sky cap for check in). Dad comes back from checking in the car with older child and you are on your way, in reverse with the carry ons in the stoller with the children and Dad carrying the car set.
There are also porters near the luggage pickup and I usually tip them about 2.00 per bag when I curb my luggage. I have never used them upon arrival, but, I have seen them tote the luggage to the car and help people load it in the car. For this service, I would be inclined to tip 3.00 + for the bags.
Hope this helps. :) Of course, if this seems too much to handle, I can always assist. LOL

Thanks, I was wondering about the carts near the luggage. $3 not bad. Our luggage rolls nicely, but you can only push/pull so much. So you can take the carts to the rental car? Where do you return then?

That is what we were thinking for the return, have him drop me and the luggage off and use sky cap then to get it to the counter. Have him take the car back. But I am guessing we have to wait for him to check in since he needs is I.D. That is ok, we always try to leave enough time.

Normally we do quicksliver and they help with the luggage pick up.

Last year when we rented a car for Vero Beach it was difficult getting from the luggage pick to the the car rental, but Little PhD could walk so we loaded stuff in her stroller and we only had the one kid back then!

Oh life gets complicated!

Yes, you can take them with you to the cars. People just leave them, with a quarter return, there are many people collecting them.
We usually grab the sky cap and Dee shows his license to the sky cap before he returns the car. That takes care of check in. If you check in the night before your return, most resorts will take care of this for you, if possible, then the problem with your DH checking in with the skycap is solved. You have 4 people (I assume paid since you have the car seat) and 6 bags, they can all be taken care of while he returns the car. You are well within the checked baggage limit.
See, not so complicated. :)

Thanks so much, that sounds good. One less thing to worry about.

Now my next big problem is 60 hours before our trip and the baby starts throwing up! My best friends son (baby also) was sick (Rotovirus) for 4 days so I am praying this isn't what he had (we haven't seen each other for 8 days and he came down with it 3 days after we saw them.)

So everyone who reads this PRAY that it was just something she ate (after all she is almost 9 months old and is eating something new daily.) Today it was an apple slice and I am hopping it just wouldn't digest and came back up. So far it has been since 11:00 pm and she has nursed and slept and held that down (it is currenlty 4:45 am, I can't sleep anymore too worried.) Please please please God let it just be something she ate, or at least a short lived virus.
