Skippy leaving and S.I.R. staying?

Here is the newest update from Screamscape about Stitch's Great Escape.
(6/18/04) Our latest rumor comes from a fly on the wall who’s seen the inside of Stitch. So far the show rooms have remained mostly unchanged with the exception of the missing XS Tech teleporter tube. In it’s place is a new silver, red and blue base platform. A pair of robotic arms have also been mounted to the roof for the robot gun sentries. As for the Pre-Show... Skippy has taken his last teleport it seems, but our rumor source claims that S.I.R. will remain... after a few significant changes. So far it seems that things are on schedule for an early October opening date.

So....what's happening? Just a while back it was said Skippy is definitely staying, and S.I.R. was scrapped.....but this is saying Skippy is gone, but S.I.R. will remain. Anyone care to shed more light on the subject?

I think Disney are doing a very good job of keepign a tight lid on the specifics of what is going on, and you are just hearing little snippets of rumors here and there. I guess this is an advatnage of building an indoor attraction and not letting anyone have a peek inside! After the Mission Space leaks, I also think they are handling information a lot tighter. Concrete info on this project has been close to nil coming to me.

Maybe they'll keep the alien from AE too

S I R was cool, but personally if they were keeping any character I'd rather them keep Skippy. I can see them working Skippy in very easily, but I think it might be harder to work S I R in. We'll just have to wait and see! :D

I don't think I'm that lucky :animwink:

Why don't they just keep them both? They could work the characters of S.I.R. and Skippy into the SGE story. Like 626 said, we'll just have to wait and see.

In all seriousness it would make more sense to keep Skippy. He could be worked in easier and would sell alot of merchandise. But what do I know?

Also, If I recall correctly, the world Stitch inhabits doesn't have any robots: only aliens.

Not that I have all that much info on SGE, but...
just because Skippy is no longer being teleported, doesn't mean you won't see him in the attraction. Take that for what it's worth.

The alien...I think he has left the building.

At the beginning of the movie Lilo & Stitch there is a robot in the Galatic Council. Remember when Stitch says Meega nala queesta (Or however it's spelled) there is a robot that "vomits" assorted robot parts. So S I R could exist in the Lilo & Stitch universe, but I don't know how they could implement him into SGE

Stitch's Great Escape! To Bust Loose This Fall

Fans of Walt Disney Pictures' hit film “Lilo & Stitch” know him as a cuddly but destructive alien prone to hilarious fits of havoc. But what was Stitch like before the movie?

This fall, Walt Disney World guests will find out when they come face to face with the mischievous character in a new Magic Kingdom attraction - Stitch's Great Escape!

Under construction on the former site of The ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter, the kid-friendly Tomorrowland adventure will put guests in the middle of the mayhem caused by the naughty Experiment 626 - a.k.a. Stitch - when he's captured by the Galactic Federation and teleported to a processing center for alien prisoners.

Park guests are recruited to provide additional security as the six-limbed alien arrives with a reputation for playful disobedience - and an appetite for chaos that exceeds all limits. Sights, sounds and - ewwww! - smells add to the pandemonium.

Walt Disney Imagineers are tackling the challenge of bringing a character from an animated film to life as an Audio-Animatronics figure. The result is a 39-inch-tall version of the unstoppable blue menace animated with a breathtaking degree of realism, one of the most complex creations of its size, custom-made by Imagineers with more than 350 detailed, hand-machined parts and more than 40 separate functions.

In addition to Stitch, the fun-filled attraction will feature several characters familiar to fans of the film, including the Galactic Federation’s Grand Councilwoman, Captain Gantu and Agent Pleakley, with voices supplied by the movie’s original actors. Skippy, the hapless alien “volunteered” for a teleportation demonstration in The ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter, will return in a new role.

Also featured will be two “plasma cannons” that follow Stitch's DNA whenever - and wherever - it moves.

Stitch's Great Escape! will offer Disney's FASTPASS, the innovative free service available to all guests that eliminates the need to wait in long lines for popular attractions.

(This news release has been posted on several Disney websites, including message boards and wdwcentral.com).

Also, a WDI insider has claimed that Skippy is remaining. We also read about it on Jim Hill several months ago, and also on a Walt Disney World Travel Newsletter.

So I better see him.

EDIT: Found another source -- "The new adventure replaces The ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter, which closed in October 2003. Skippy, the hapless alien “volunteered” for a teleportation demonstration in the closed attraction, will return in Stitch’s Great Escape!" Source: http://www.themeparks.com/wdw/stitch01.htm

I wish I had rememberd that press release. Since we know that Skippy is staying for sure, do you guys think there is any validity to the S.I.R. rumor?

Let me go on record right now to say that if Skippy and S.I.R. (Tim Curry voice included) are still in SGE, you can reserve me a seat for Stitch's Great Escape. There is probably a better chance of Tracy McGrady staying with the Magic (Don't get me started on that either), but I can dream.

It's Screamscape, they never really tell the truth...

Like Grizz posted, Skippy will return in a whole new role, which is great. Very unlikely we will have both AA's (SIR)

I would be rather surprised to see both Animatronics in this show...the only thing I could see S.I.R. as is a cop...and Skippy as another experiment.

I think you'll see a rebuilt SIR with different parts and a different voice. In short, it's not gonna be SIR.

Any possibility of the "alien" returning to her son in law's house to nag him to death?

:p hehe either that or "dont eat me...eat this one!"
haha

anyways... SIR is one of my favorite animatronics (after Alec Tronic RIP) so im glad hell still be there with his silver bicycle helmet and exposed pnuematics, Disney is keeping him most likely because he is VERY articulated and advanced (in other words SIR cost a lot of $$$ to make, so why throw him out if they could incorporate him). I also hope they get a good character voice over for him, too bad they cant bring phil hartman back :( Also, if skippy does return, i would think that hed be the one to save stitch from his mishaps (they are both very misunderstood robots haha). I also hope they make subtle X-S refernces, just for nostalgia. If you have been to Blizzard Beach, you mightve seen the snowmobile-type machiene with the X-S Tech logo emblazoned on it's side.<3 Those are my thoughts, let me know if you agree or not. :xmas: <---haha
