Skipping CRT and BOG dinner. Am I crazy?

I can still make ADRs for both. I realized last year that my family does not really care for characters. So if you took away the character experience, is it still worth the visit? I do intend to have BOG lunch.

My DH and I went to lunch at CRT a few years ago. We had been before when the kids were little, but decided to go again. We weren't really interested in the characters. We wanted to eat in the castle and look out over Fantasyland. We enjoyed it very much. It was also fun to watch the children react to the characters. We will be going to BOG for dinner for the first time in March. Again, it's for the experience and the desserts. ;)

BOG dinner is not necessary if u can get in for lunch! I highly recommend that you do the FP option for it to avoid the crazy line!

And I have been to wdw countless times and have never eaten in the castle and probably will never seeing as how my kids r both boys...we usually opt for dinner at one of the monorail resorts instead!

If you do CRT, we like breakfast the best. I know I'm in the minority, but if I had to pick restaurants for atmosphere, I'd still choose CRT over BOG. We're considering a trip w/o the kids in the fall and we'll be skipping BOG, but CRT is still on the table even though characters are of no importance.

I recently booked FP+ times and did not even see an option for BOG lunch. I wonder how/when that shows up?

There is a specific website seperate from the actual MDE that you need to go to. If u search the forum, you will find it. You used to be able to do it about 30-45 days out, but the time frame now seems to have been reduced to 10-12 days prior.

Believe me, when I was there in November, and it wasn't even crowded, the line was wrapped around the bridge and all the way down to gastons tavern!?! Don't think I didn't have a huge smile as I walked passed everyone waiting! ;)

We did BOG for lunch last month (using the FP+ link) and it was well worth it. The food was decent, and the place is very atmospheric. My DH said he was glad we did it, although we will probably skip it on our next trip.

Have never done CRT. I like the idea of dining in the castle but my DH isn't really a princesses fan and nor is my DS, so not sure if the high prices would be worth it just to say I've eaten in the castle, especially if the food is only average.

I really haven't been to BOG enough times yet to be sure I have an opinion, so take this with a grain of salt, but...

If you can have lunch at BOG, there's no real reason to have dinner there. IMO so far. I may change my mind.

I think a person should really eat somewhere at least five times before having a solid opinion and I haven't had five dinners there, so there you go.

If you are choosing one, we have found the food at Be Our Guest dinner to be substantially better than the CRT dinner. The Be Our Guest lunch is nice - and definitely better than most counter services.

The atmosphere at both is quite good, but while we have done them both multiple times, not sure that we ever 'need' to do them again. The view from CRT is amazing, the decor of BoG is amazing.

You are not crazy. The BoG character interaction is just a meeting after dinner, Beast does not come to your table. If you want atmosphere and good (not amazing, but good) food, then I would recommend BoG over CRT. CRT is character time with a nice meal thrown in for good measure.

I've only been to BOG once and it was for dinner. I decided within minutes of finishing that I would be returning in May. I feel like lunch would be more noisy and take away from the atmosphere but that is just my opinion.

Have done both -- BOG was very very nice and will definitely do it again.
CRT - great place - especially if seated near windows for the fireworks. Just don't like going through the 'photo' line -
So - it depends on what you want. The Table service at BOG for dinner is great.

I have zero interest on eating at CRT, the food never caught my attention and princess interaction is not high on top of my to-do list, so I never booked nor I plan to.

BOG dinner on the other hand was a must last trip and we enjoyed but it's a necessary repeatable experience. We'll try to have lunch there next trip but it doesn't happen, it's ok.
