Skechers Go Run

Funny thing happened on the way home from the Marathon Weekend...I was walking around the Orlando airport and came across the Go Run at the Skechers store. Checked the shoes out and they actually seemed decent - very light, thin, flexible sole similar to Nike Free. I regret not trying a pair on, especially after seeing Meb win Houston in them. Could it be possible Skechers has actually produced a legitimate running shoe??? At a more affordable price ($80)?

They seem similar enough to the Nike Frees or other minamalistic trainers of that sort. For me, im a bit of a skeptic as far as running in sketchers- but hey, it worked for meb! Worth a shot :D

I picked up a pair this past week...they are similar to the Nike Free - the original ones, not the current Free Run. They are lighter than the Free and equally flexible. The upper is very comfortable. There is an awkward mid foot bump similar to an arch support, but it runs the width of the shoe. This isn't noticeable when running, but it is a little strange walking. They will be a good treadmill trainer for $80, but I'm not sure I'd buy another pair.

Weird...for $10 more you could have gotten a pair of Kinvara's.

I bought a pair of the kinvaras. Nice for walking around, but not for running. I think Saucony mid-advertises them as being minimal, which they aren't. Light weight - yes, but minimal, not so much. Too much cushion for natural runners.

I got "marathon" quality shoes for $90 and now if I go back to that same chain running store (Jack Rabbit sports) I will get 10 percent off all my purchases.

Remember to really look at a shoe. If you are doing a lot of running some of the lower end shoes like Sketchers (and even Nike) have poorly made soles. The soles wear so fast that you either hurt yourself or you end up buying your shoes faster than you would with a high end pair thus negating the price difference. I always look at quality over price.

I do all my training/races in Newtons, but they aren't the best shoes for the treadmill. In terms of cheap, treadmill shoe, the Go Run aren't bad. I'm very skeptical of the Skechers brand as a legitimate running shoe, but for the price & use, they get the job done.
