>>Six Flags Magic Mountain will roll out another once-in-a-lifetime event during the coronavirus pandemic with the world’s first drive-thru auto show featuring 100 muscle cars, hot rods and lowriders from West Coast Customs.

The Cruis’n the Park Car Show will run on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from Feb. 26 through March 14 at the Valencia amusement park.

Large California amusement parks such as Six Flags Magic Mountain remain closed and are unlikely to return to full operation until spring or summer under COVID-19 health and safety reopening guidelines issued by the state.

Cruis’n the Park offers car enthusiasts and theme park fans a chance to drive through Magic Mountain to see custom cars, trucks, motorcycles and watercraft from the comfort and safety of their own car.

The 30-minute Cruis’n the Park Car Show will be narrated by West Coast Customs CEO Ryan Friedlinghaus (available via a free mobile app download) with additional themed music and entertainment.

The limited-time drive-thru event is the perfect cure for #StayAtHome Southern California motorists missing their daily commutes, but the timely remedy lacks the one thing ride enthusiasts are longing for the most: Roller coasters. Magic Mountain rides will remain closed during the event.

Cruis’n the Park will take visitors on a route through the 125-acre park and past dozens of vehicles from West Coast Customs, a Burbank auto customizing shop featured in the reality television show “Pimp My Ride.” Magic Mountain teamed up with the auto customizer on the West Coast Racers roller coaster that debuted in late 2019.<<

Can't wait to not go to that.

Oh, come on, this could be a lot of fun for some folks! :D

This is exactly the type of stuff theme parks should be doing to stay relevant in their customers minds. Plus make a few bucks in the meantime.

The only thing I find unsavory is the use of the phrase "Pimp My Ride". I am not a prude, but the casual use of the word "Pimp" has always seemed a bit distasteful to me, long before any #MeToo perspective entered our cultural lens.

I guess I'm just surprised that word hasn't been expunged from polite society and theme park events. Seems like some Social Justice Warriors would have jumped on that years ago now, but I guess not.

Anyway, I wish Magic Mountain well with their drive-thru car show, even if the cars have pimps in them. :)

My dream is to get a 73 Challenger and drive to these kinds of events 😍 sadly I'm not in a good living situation to do such a thing. I don't think a Veloster N is cool enough hahaha.

You know, I like those Velosters. They are a really neat looking little coupe, and kudos need to go to Hyundai for thinking outside the box on those. I have read that the Turbo models are very zippy.

But so long as its waxed and looking good, why not go to this event? Sure, it's not a '65 GTO or a '69 'Cuda with the elephant 426. But it's the 21st century and the Veloster is a slick little car to be proud of.

But an even better question.... Why a '73 Challenger instead of a '72 or earlier Challenger? I mean, the engine modifications alone that detuned and castrated the 383 or 440 as the Malaise Era took hold in '73 is easy to fix now in 2021. But those dorky Federal bumpers and the bulky headrests from '73 onwards are harder to erase.

There's got to be a story there. Why pick a '73 Challenger instead of a '71? I'm curious...
