Sitting and Thinking...new things to do on my next trip

So as I sit here this week sick and missing work I have a little extra time to plan my Disney vacation in July. I am also very thankful that I have the shingles now and not on my trip in JULY!!!! Anyway...I have been to WDW over 20 times and I am a creature of habit so I always do the same thing over and over. We are staying in a Villa at AKL so I will probably cook a few meals myself but I really want to try new places. What are your favorite little places to stop and get a snack/ meal (without reservations). Also what are some little known things to do at the parks especially Epcot. I have reservations at Boma, Cape May Cafe, and Rainforest. I have a 4 year old son, nieces 10 and 18, my older sister, her husband and Mom with me. I am hoping to break my habits a little bit on this trip so please give me suggestions. Thanks...

Tangerine Café is fantastic and the Behind the Seeds tour in the Land is the best! I hope you get better soon and try not to scratch!

I have never tried the tangerine cafe...where is that? I think my Mom would love the behind the seeds tour because she used to be a florist!

Sounds great! I will be hitting FL at rope drop hopefully! My son is 4 and would love it...Well I would love it too! Maybe more than him haha. I haven't been to WDW in over a year now so I haven't seen the new FL.

We have also been alot and we went and played mini-golf this trip at Fantasia Gardens. We'd never done that and it was alot of fun. As for food, get a Pork Shank at Gaston's Tavern. It was sooo much better than a turkey leg, but had a smiliar flavor. We ate at the Plaza Restaurant and that was a great new expierence too! It was cool seeing the castle change from daylight to dusk colors while we sat there. We also walked over to Beaches and Cream and had ice cream after we played mini-golf. That was a nice treat.

If you have never been over to Fort Wilderness, hop a boat or a bus in the early evening and go to the Meadows Trading Post area for the campfire and outdoor movie. Chip & Dale are usually around. There are a lot of fun activities that kids and adults can enjoy at the Fort that you don't have to be staying there to enjoy. You can watch the Electric Light Pageant from any of the resorts surrounding Bay Lake (poly, GF, CR, WL, FWC) during the evenings. You can see Wishes from the beach at the Poly and FWC and they play the music. Rent a surrey bike at one of the resorts and spend an afternoon pedaling. Hop on a bus and just tour a resort that you have never been to for a couple of hours during the afternoon. The only thing you really can't do at another resort is go for a swim. We always make a point of heading over to the Poly for some quiet afternoon time to kick back get a drink, do a little shopping, etc. This trip I have spending some time checking out the AoA and PORS resorts just because.

I keep a list of things I want to do at Disney in the future, and I try to cross a few things off the list each time we go. The list is ever-growing. A few suggestions that come to mind are: the new grown-up ice cream shop in France; Karamelle-Kuche in Germany; and pick-a-pearl in Japan. Also, the Electrical Water Pageant if you haven't seen it.

Oh no... hope you don't have a rough time with the shingles. I got hit about 7 years ago, at 49 yo , got it affecting my left eye, still having vision blurriness from it. I was fortunate to have a great opthamologist get right on my case. Then I got my shingles shot after everything cleared up. Had horrible side affects from the shot, but was worth it if it keeps the shingles from coming back.
Epcot has the Kidcot stations/ Epcot passport thats kid friendly. Be sure to see Crush. The World showcase adventure is fun to do too if you want to take the time to do it. Street performers are fun to watch. Arrange to see the flag bearers and voices of liberty at AA.
Good luck with your shingles, hope you dont have too much discomfort from it. I've known some who have had bad episodes.

I am doing ok so far! I am a nurse so I can't go back to work...that's why I have been on here obsessing with my trip. I am just thankful this started now and it's not interfering with my trip!

I didn't know that POLY played the music from Wishes! Thanks for the tip. We don't plan on going to a park everyday so that would be great for a relaxed evening.

I saw that it's only 18$. That's def worth the money.

And it isnt a long tour, about 40 - 45 min I'd say. So it wont take away a lot of park time. She can go on the tour and be done about the time you get through a ride. Some interesting views behind the scene and the process Disney goes through to provide some of the food in the World makes it interesting
