Single rider lines at attractions

Errr...it depends on the attraction.

It only works on certain rides, like TT, EE, RnRC, where you would otherwise have a lot of empty seats. I know they tried it a while back with Space Mountain and it didn't work as well. You can't do it on every attraction as it doesn't work for every attraction. For rides that have more that about 3 seats per row, they just find parties of the correct size to fill the empty seats.

I think the attraction that could benefit the most from a single rider line is TSM. I know they have a two person line, but putting a two person or single rider line that starts from the entrance could alleviate wait times on that ride. A singles line for Dinosaur would also probably work well.

I agree with you but the issue is being able to fit a single rider queue into the attarction queues already there. ToT would be near impossible. I do recall them experimenting with it at Space Mountain a few years ago, but it was after you passed the control room and entered the launch area queues. Now the CMs seem to be looking for more single riders to fill rockets.

But I am all for them myself. I just don't see how they would do it.

As a single park goer that utilizes the single rider lines A LOT most rides don’t really need it. Besides the three rides that have a single rider line there are a few other rides that could potentially have a mild benefit from having them; mostly the Mountains as there are not currently any single rider lines active at MK.

The single rider lines generally do not reduce the wait time for the regular line or increase the hourly capacity of the rides by any noticeable amount. Most of the rides that could benefit already have procedures in place that optimize the load and eliminate most empty seats.

It also wasn't really worth it for Space Mountain.

I very rarely see that ride go with empty seats. Maybe one at the end every now and then. I waited in the singles line for Space Mountain when they were trying it. Not worth it IMO.

I know for RnRC they incorporated it after a refurb. But they pretty much changed the queue on the inside to do it.

Oh yeah it does, all the time. I am myself almost always a single rider because I visit the parks by myself weekly. Space Mountain is constantly running with empty seats. The CMs can ask for single riders a little down the line but often it's too late and the cars run with an empty seat.

If done right and have the single rider line, I'm convinced it would be a positive experience for visitors

I guess that's part of the joy of going on rides with my wife. we entertain each other, I usually tell crude jokes....you cant do that with someone you don't know. I enjoy riding rides as much as possible, but I would rather ride with my family and friends.

I have gone a week ago to WDW for the first time. We are a couple, and in universal, we always used the single rider line, and while there was a queue of 30 min in most rides, we didn't wait anything!! and, half of the times, we sit together in the same car, and sometimes we sit one next to one. we don't matter sitting in different places... what's the matter with that? when you are in a ride, you focus on that ride, you don't know who is next to you and you don't care!! There are only a few rides i wouldn't like to ride alone, and those are the water rides... just because it's fun to do jokes with friends.
but the other ones, who cares? Seriously... if you are in a coaster, will you speak with the person next to you? i just scream! if i am in spiderman... i scream!

but in WDW... i have seen a looot of seats empty. it doesn't matter if the single rider line reduce the wait time of the standar line or not... it's useful for the people that don't want to wait a lot of time. that's it.

In TSMM there were always empty seats!! everytime i saw it, i was like: noooo!!!! what a waste of space!! there are people that just want to ride without waiting!! like me!!

and, when i wanted to go to the expedition everest single rider line, it was closed. I wasked why, and they told me because there were few people in the standard line. but it was a 30 min wait!! I didnt' understand, i get furius...

Sometimes on Space I see it becomes a challenge for the CM when there's a kid that's barely the height limit and they have to deal with that, or people wanting to ride together, or someone decides all the sudden they don't want to go on, etc and they just have to send vehicles whether filled or not.

Single rider on TT is awesome though when it's not too crowded and you can walk all the way up to where you can see loading. Two minutes wait and I'm on.

Here's something to consider. The Disneyland Resort in California has 8 single rider lines for the following rides:

  • California Screamin’
  • Goofy’s Sky School
  • Grizzly River Run
  • Indiana Jones Adventure
  • Radiator Springs Racers
  • Soarin’ Over California
  • Splash Mountain
  • Matterhorn
But Disney World only has three. The aforementioned Test Track, Expedition Everest and Rock n Roller Coaster.

Personally, I really wish Soarin and Toy Story Mania had single rider queues because those are the two biggest rides where almost of all the FPs are out before noon. But as pointed out, having to design an additional single riders line for some attractions may be impossible at this point unless they want to merge single riders with FP+ lines but that may be asking for disaster. Maybe Disney felt that there wasn't a need for more single ride lines given they largely appeal to families with children. So by their logic, if a lot of families really enjoy riding Peter Pan's Flight or Soarin, it's unlikely there will be a huge demand for single riders.

There used to be a single rider line for Toy Story Mania. The first year it opened my hubby were there in the summer and used the single rider line all but once. About a week or two after we returned home I saw on these boards that Disney shut down the single rider line. I think they said it was to make it more efficient or something. I don't know that single rider line was pretty efficient for me!

I agree. I love single rider lines, and it's a win-win situation. This is one thing that Uni does better.
Disney's goal is to keep people out of lines so they can spend money on food and items from the gift shop. Maybe just a few more single lines. Splash, pirates, space, Soarin to name a few

I also wish there were more single rider lines. I will be going solo in November and will use them! It is good though that I won't have to worry about the tiers in Epcot and DHS... I can FP Soarin and do the single rider line for Test Track. And I will fp TSM and use the single rider line for RnRC. But I must say, I used the single rider line for RnRC in Nov and it was great until we got to the CM's that tell you which row to go to. That wait was longer than anything because they wait until there a row that needs a filler and they take just 1 person.

Test Track was great. We walked right on. But then you have those rude guests- I was put in a row with 2 guys and they purposely got on the ride and sat on both end seats and wouldn't let me on. The CM kept telling them to move over! Did they listen? Nope! The CM's were not happy and it kind of messed up their count for getting people on. But the next family was 5 people so I just got on the car with them and they were nice. People can be so rude! End of rant! Lol but other than that the single rider line was great!

you say that its difficult to do bew single rider lines because they need to modify the ride etc... But what happens with 7DMT?? Its new and it doesnt have a single rider line U.U
