We just got back from WDW and had a few things that came up that I have managed to remember long enough to post...I need to start carrying a notebook with me to write down things while I'm on vacation! :animwink:

Item #1--Our Friendship boat captain on the trip to the Studios made a point of telling everyone who doesn't get there very often to be sure to visit Indiana Jones Stunt Show because it was going to be replaced by an Indiana Jones ride soon. I know this has been discussed frequently around here, but I had never heard a CM announce it like that.

Item #2--Does anybody know when the Hidden Donald chair disappeared from the Haunted Mansion?

Item #3--On our last day (which happened to be the day after the little boy died on Mission:Space), we were in the Magic Kingdom and heard a guest paged throughout the park. I had always heard that WDW didn't page people like that. Anybody know how frequently this occurs? We decided that it must have been an awfully big deal to cause them to override the ambient sounds/music like that.

Item #4--In riding the Disney Transport buses, we have noticed that there doesn't seem to be any uniformity to the routes taken from the parks to the resorts. One driver might take one road, while the next driver takes a different one. Does anybody know whether the drivers are directed to take certain routes or if they are on their own to find their own route to their destinations?

We had a great time, even in the rain of TS Arlene! Can't wait to get back!

Thanks for the update!! I would really like to know about the Indiana Jones Attraction rumor, because I am a huge fan of Temple of the Forbidden Eye in Disneyland. That would be super cool if we had one similar to that in Disney-MGM Studios... :)

I'd like to see the TOtFE put in the Studios for sure to replace the stunt show which has no "replay value" (to me), but I've given up on listening to Transportation crew CM rumors.

I know what you mean about the Transportation crew rumors, but I just thought it was interesting that he was announcing it as though it had already been publicized by the company.

BTW, we also had a bus driver tell us on Friday night (June 10) as we were on our way to the Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue that within 2 hours there would be storms with 65 mph winds and that the parks would close down as soon as the winds hit 35 mph. Furthermore, he said the next 36 hours were going to be the same weather, so we shouldn't expect the parks to be open. When we left the show, it wasn't even raining.

I've heard some whoppers of stories by transport CM's. On my last trip, on the way back from Epcot, the driver told us these "facts":
-Epcot opened in 2 phases, Future World first, then World Showcase (ummmmmm, no)
-Epcot was built to Walt's exacting specifications (ummmmm, really no)
I did give him some credit for knowing about the STOLPort, and telling about it to guests. He was also pretty close on the shell count for Illuminations.

Guests may be paged in the Disney parks. However, this happens very, very rarely and only in the case of death or extremely serious illness in a member of their party. In other words, if you hear a person paged, their vacation is pretty much over.

I, too noticed the Hidden Donald rocking chair missing from the library scene of the HM. I'm not sure how long it's been gone, I rode the HM on June 1.

Rocking chair? The Donald chair ws a puffy old chair next to the suit of armor & moving candelabra? The library scene is before this, correct?

Right...it was a straight chair that sat to the left of the endless hallway with the candelabra. Now there isn't even any lighting directed at that spot.

Maybe the page at Magic Kingdom had something to do with the mission space incident, (Some of the family is in Mk while others were in Epcot)

They use the same routes, however in some cases the route changes through the day based on traffic and demand. Also they will change a route if the know there is an accident etc on the normal route. However most of the time if traveling between the same two destinations they will take the exact same route.

I heard that exact speil from probably the same Friendship Captain over 2 years ago.

Thanks for the update!

I've also found that bus routes may be changed throughout the week to accomodate (or avoid) any known conditions such as traffic jams, road work, and special events on property using the WDW roadways.

Seems like I remember one such change was the bus driver taking the backroads through Fort Wilderness or taking the road that runs right outside Fort Wilderness to avoid some traffic on the regular road.

It was kind of nice to see some different scenery during our detour....

:)

Seems the most obvious explanation - no point on sitting in traffic when there's another route just around the corner

We were there June 5-11 and I thought something looked different at that scene but I couldn't figure it out!

On June 8, we heard a page at Blizzard Beach, but you are right, they are very rare.

1 of 2 things here....... (1) the bus driver gets so bored riding the same route all day, he starts making things up because hes going crazy (2) he figures the chances of actually seeing you in 2 years when his promised attraction closes is slim to none. he may not see you ever again.

i wonder what the stupidest thing one has said to guest and the guest just looked at them.
