Silly Question for the Southerners

This might sound silly but I haven't been to Disney since `05 and I cannot remember if there was sweet tea served anywhere? Just wondering for my upcoming trip!

I think the only places we have found sweet tea on property are Liberty Tree Tavern and Columbia House. Only some restaurants outside the world offer it. Sonny's BBQ for sure (the whole reason we went there to eat!) and fast food (mcd's, chick-fil-a, etc) always seem to have it. Cracker Barrel doesn't though, which is tricky cause you think they would! (as of April anyway...that is the last time I was there.)

When we go we always eat in the resort so I don't know much about the restaurants outside the park, but that is crazy about Cracker Barrell-that's a southern restaurant!!!

We like the unsweetened tea.
What we look for when going to WDW are Krispy Kreme doughnuts and Krystal hamburgers.
Both of those are hard to come by west of the Mississippi River.

Oh, also- pork BBQ. Here the BBQ is beef brisket- very good but not like pulled pork.

Good luck.

Two visits ago I actually rememeber thinking that FL must not be big on sweet tea. It was rather hard to find down there.

Funny, considering in most south eastern states all you say is "tea" and they bring you an iced, sweet tea. :)

'Sweet tea' is made by putting sugar in the tea while it is still hot from brewing.
It absorbs more that way.

'Iced Tea' would just be tea served with ice, as opposed to hot tea, but it could be sweet or unsweet.

Tks.

I think WDW serves some kind of NesTea flavor... I think it might be raspberry. Wouldn't exactly say that NesTea is sweet tea anyway, though.

You can't find it very easily down there but I know that Paula Dean has a great recipe on her site for some awesome sweet tea if you want to try that it uses a coffee maker and alot of rooms have them so you could possibly make your own. I know how you feel though it was hard for me down there because I don't drink unsweetend so I was always dumping sugar packs in mine which doesn't taste the same. Good luck:)

You are right, sugar packs in unsweet tea is not sweet tea. I don't mind the coke products at WDW but, a southern girl still misses her tea!:ROFLOL:

Hey, it's not the same thing but try the Moroccan Mint Tea at Morocco in EPCOT.
It's very good. Has mint and sugar in it.

You can get it at the outside food counter or at dinner.
It's the national drink of Morocco.

I drank a lot of it.

That sounds good. I've never had mint in my tea but I love mint. I'll give it a try on my next trip! Thanks!

If it's anything like the tea in Tunisia (and it sounds likely)...:hurl: That stuff is a little TOO sweet.

I was excited to see a sweetened and unsweetened, brewed iced tea available at Cosmic Ray's a couple months ago. In fact, the CM gave me an iced tea for free because it was my birthday.

Most counter service only offer the standard Coke products, so it was nice to have a non-soda change at Cosmic Ray's. Hopefully the iced tea ("Gold Peak") will start showing up in more places.

Is there any difference between "Sweet Tea" and "Iced Tea"?

If you have to ask, I'm not telling. :ROFLOL:Yes, there is a difference. I LOVE sweet tea, and around here, you just order tea, and that's what you get. But I've avoided it for years b/c of the calories, so I just specifically have to order an unsweet tea. I would never say unsweet iced tea.

You need to come to NC! I live in the hometown of Krispy Kreme, and we're not to far from one of NC's BBQ capitals - Lexington. Sometimes, people say NC has eastern and western BBQ. Not correct. It's eastern and Lexington BBQ.

when trying to get unsweeten tea sweet use equal or sweet and low it mixes up easier

Sugar doesn't dissolve in cold water. That's why if you make tea, you have to put the sugar directly into the brewed tea concentrate. I have found over the years that 1 sweet and low and 1 equal per glass of unsweet tea is about how sweet I like to drink it. I will also use like 3 or 4 packets of Splenda if I can't get a pink or a blue. WDW doesn't have pink!

But honestly, I just don't trust tea at WDW. I just end up drinking lots and lots and lots of diet Coke.

They have sweet tea at the Trails End buffet at Fort Wilderness. It was heavenly although I always get half sweet, half regular. Otherwise it's just too sweet.
