Significance of #28

My son has race car Mickey, baseball Mickey, and basketball Mickey. All of them has the number 28 on it's uniform. What is the significance of the number 28?

In fact, his birthday just passed on Nov 18.

I have noticed the number 28 in multiple Disney movies and wonder the same thing. It has to mean more then that.

November 18, 1928 - Steamboat Willie, the first Mickey Mouse cartoon short released to theaters in the United States. Plane Crazy had actually been produced first, but it only played in a few local California theaters on May 15 and was quickly pulled.

November 18th, 1928 is considered Mickey's "birthday" by The Walt Disney company.

You'll also see the number 71 on things for the year the Magic Kingdom opened, 82 for Epcot, etc.

D23 is for 1923, the year the Walt Disney Company was founded.
