The space shuttle Endeavour is scheduled to lift off tonight at 2:28am. If you are in the area, check it out. Shuttle launches are spectacular....they're even more spectacular at night. This will light up the entire night sky.

I used to live in Tampa and man do I miss those shuttle launches. They really are beautiful at night. A great spot to watch, in Tampa, is from the top of the parking garage at the airport.

It was during the day, but I did catch a launch last year (don't remember which one) while the Disney bus was taking me and my family back to the hotel. Pretty cool sight.

I have yet to witness a launch, I would love too one day. I was planning on it a few years ago but the launch was postponed a day and I was leaving that night of the original launch.

hehehe, Thanks. I get a lot of comments about that little guy.
So, who still gets goosebumps and butterflies in their tummy everytime they see that shuttle go up? I do, and I still hold my breath when I hear 'go for thottle up'. (or whatever it is they say). What an exciting adventure for those brave men and women who get to go up in each one of those launches.

I do as well. Last year, after watching the launches from over here in Tampa, I finally went over there to see one close up. It was unbelievable. You actually feel the ground shake (from about 7 miles away) and then the sound hits you and goes right through you. And then to watch it with thousands of other people and the excitement that builds as the countdown goes through it's final seconds is something I will never forget.

Sadly cant make it down there tonight, but i will be watching from my roof up in jaxx. I have a friend who is part of the SRB recovery team (they come back down about 70-80 miles off the coast where i am), so ive gotten some pretty cool invites to some the launches.

For those who want to watch the launch you can go here: http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/nasatv/index.html

Shuttle launches are SOO fun, and something that will forever be with you... I just wish i was alive during the Apollo program to watch a Saturn V launch!

Does anyone know of a good spot to watch in West Palm Beach? I am in Palm Beach Gardens and want to watch. I guess I can just go to the beach and look north.

Got to watch one from the Atlas ASOC.
Secondary rescue was there, so we were the closest people to the launch site.
It was absolutely incredible, my clothes were rustling as it launched.

if the clouds go away you should be able to see it -- i live in WPB near the turnpike and usually just go out front of my house and see the launches with no problem.
