WDW has different cold desserts through the years, but never frozen custard. I think would be a great addition to WDW since Frozen Custard isn't quite as regional as it once was.

The best way to describe Frozen Custard is the fact is very similar to ice cream except this frozen dessert is made with eggs.

Frozen Custard is a great cold dessert that has been popular in the state I live in for a very long even way before a frozen custard chain was created.

When I was a neanderthal child we used to have a small shack by the side of the road that had frozen custard. Just about every night we would go for a ride in our Flintstones style car and always stopped for one. They were great. However, considering how they were made in Disney it would be about $20.00 per cone.

I am in North Florida and a steady stream of frozen custard places have been opening up here over the last year or two. Five years ago you could not find a single place serving frozen custard here to save your life. Now we have a dozen or so places that have it and a half dozen or so that serve it exclusively.

I can't imagine that it will be too long before is shows up at WDW.

I'm not sure that on its own it is really marketable. Frozen Custard is so similar to ice cream that most people would not really notice it.

Disney's strategy is instead to offer premium ice cream as a differentiator - such as Ample Hills, Vivoli Gelato and the France Pavilion ice cream store.

Are you suggesting Disney get a Kohr Brothers franchise? That would be lovely. It should be a little hut at Boardwalk so we get the OC Maryland vibe. Then add some arcades, ferris wheel, bumper cars, cigarette butts in the sand, tattoo & piercing parlours, YOLO t-shirts, vomiting high schoolers, perfect.

I love frozen custard. I just seems creamier than traditional soft serve. As a NJ resident, this is what we had on the boardwalk every time. I think the Kohr's brothers started out in Coney Island as a small stand but the first Koh'r Brothers chain came to Atlatntic city(1920's). Frozen custard on the Point Pleasant Beach boardwalk mmmmm.

So yeah bring it to BW, it would definately bring an air of authenticity.

Here in Central Florida, custard stands can't be found. There was one that started up a couple of minutes from our home, but unfortunately, it closed. That said, I still would like a custard stand to show up at Disney. I'm always looking for something new and different to do on my theme park visits. One in Future World would be good. I still miss the ice cream parlor where Starbucks FountainView is now. Yeah, I know, France has an ice cream shop now with more flavors, but I still miss the old FountainView! You didn't have to walk a mile to get there; it was a good place to begin an Epcot outing.

I never heard of that Frozen Custard Franchise before you mentioned it, but I have heard the name before you mentioned. I have no problem with a Kohr Brothers franchise since the roots of Frozen Custard in the United States went through them. The state I grew up in started to have Custard places back in the 1930's.

Many people mistake Frozen Custard for Soft Ice Cream (creamys). They look alike, but, the texture is smoother and the flavor is more intense. A chocolate tastes like chocolate and vanilla tastes like vanilla. I haven't seen any actual Frozen Custard locations for many years now. They cost more to make and we all know how sensitive the subject of the cost of snack food can be. :joyfull:

They are trickling in. If I am not mistaken, there is a Freddy's on Orange Ave and Vineland Rd in Orlando.

Yep. Kohr's has a big presence at the Jersey shore.
There is also one way up in northern NJ near me in Fairfield. May be the only one not "down the shore." Unfortunately, they do not sell peanut butter in Fairfield for a PB-vanilla or PB-chocolate swirl.

Custard would have been a great addition to the Boardwalk at DW....until they opened Ample Hills last week.

Yes... The stand near us serves a different flavor each week. Just had a dish of black cherry on my way home the other night.
