The last time I was at WDW and waited on line to ride SM, I couldn't help but notice that the entire queue, music and all, needs some updating. I think they should keep the barely-lit theme going with the space effects, including the passing asteroids and comets, but at least update the effects. Anyone else agree?

Maybe the queue in general could be updated, the holograms, the lighting, and such. But the music should not be updated. I love the music and feel it on of the best parts of the SM experience. It may seem outdated, but it is unique to SM and I wouldn't feel the same going up the ramp without that music playing.

The only changes I would want is for them to re-work the queue for Fastpass so that they can make better use of the inside of the building. Also, I could do without the SMTV broadcasts. Just my opinion, tho.

I've heard nothing but positive comments about the effects in the queue area from guests, such as how neat it is or how much better it is that DL's SM queue area. I don't see any problem with it.

A CM friend of mine heard from inside contacts that restoration and possible "changes" of space mountain may take place as soon as the end of 2002. These "changes" might include new design on the inside wall of the popular attraction, a new queue line system to "fix" those mile long lines that jet out into the center of Tomorrowland, and possible rerouting of the track to raise the excitement level. My guess is the new track will be similar to the Space mountain at Tokyo Disney Sea, where the track leads out the tip top of the mountain and around the base to simulate the feeling of shooting straight off into the sky, and back down to earth. I'm quite tickled about this whole thing. I know this can only be considered a rumor, but my friend hasn't ever been wrong. He was the first person to tell me about Dinoland USA and Mission: Space. I've got an awesome feeling about this one.:sohappy:

I wouln't trust them so much, since there isn't a Space Mountain at Disney Sea's.

Adnt eh One at Toykyo Disneyland is an exact copy of the one at Disneyland.

Heading for the great escape.
I agree that the biggest problem is the single line clogging up tommorow land, something must be done, even if only to allow you to wait in shade. as for the decor, a lick of paint and a quick flick is all thats required.

I agree! I also think its needs some re-vamping as far as the holograms, the lighting, the comets, the scenery should all be updated. Hell look how good Rock N Roller Coaster looks compared to Space Mt although its 2 entirely different scenarios. I still think Space Mt needs some updating as far as that goes. And maybe it could be darker so you can't see the rails at all! But the music is classic, that should stay. :)

The music should definitely remain. I only wish disney would release a cd with those sounds as well as others from around the park not on other cd's. llike most of the splash mountain music, a monorail spiel, maybe some of the park entrance music, etc. I think the only thing that needs to be changed is the problem of the long line out to tomorrowland. I like the line inside. maybe those space tv broadcasts could be updated, but it seems fine to me. if changes are made, i hope it's after october of this year.
180 days to go!

Why could they not just bend the line around over by the Skyway station and possible get rid of the restrooms there and lead in front of that building. It appears that the restrooms there are rarely used.

I may get flamed for this, but I personally think they shouldn't have touched anything at Tomorrowland. I loved the "futuristic look" from the 60's, like Space Mountain still is.

And someone said about wanting the music on CD, I remember seeing in 99/00 a CD maker at Worlds of Disney. I think you could choose music from the areas and the rides. Oh, and if you want the monorail speech, I have it on MP3.:animwink:

If you guys want the Space Mountain Music, go to the above site. I agree that the special effects could be updated, but the music has to stay. They could add some sort of audioanimatronic figure to do a pre-flight breifing, or as an air traffic controller type. As for the lines outside...why don't they just use the snake queue inside the ride? It's never in use when I go.

The really cool Space Mountain is the one in Paris. It features a catapult launch system and I think it has inversions. you also fly through an asteroid field, not just empty space.

I Say that the Queue is Fine, However I would Update or do away with the SMTV part of it. That is Getting Old and Kind Of Annoying Now. I mean the Breaking News Has been the Same for the Last 13 Years.:hammer:
