Should Pirates of the Caribbean be an anthology series going forward?

In October of last year, we got two pieces of news regarding the future of PotC on the silver screen.
1. Johnny Depp was fired
2. PotC was up for a reboot (despite having two dangling plot threads with Angelica's fate and the resurrection of Davy Jones.)

To that I say....is a reboot even necessary?
The third movie, At World's End, expanded upon the PotC lore with the addition of pirates from all over the world, from Mistress Ching (based on the real life pirate Ching I Sao) to Gentleman Jocard.
Why not just build outwards from the main movie series instead of just scrapping it in favor of a new series?
How about bringing Penelope Cruz back for an Angelica movie to tie up her arc?
(bonus if you get Salma Hayek in there too. Because reasons.)

As long as you don't do something crazy stupid like re-casting major characters like Jack Sparrow (see: Star Wars Stories and Alden Ehrenreich's zero-charisma turn as Han Solo), it could be a success.

Heck, I kind of want to see a movie based on the adventures of Hat Guy.

Rebooting pirates is something I wouldn't want. I agree there is enough within the world that they could easily make a few more movies without captain Jack. But I'll be honest, I don't think I want a pirates without Sparrow. So I would just leave it alone.

I still think a reboot starring Redd the lady pirate, with a young kid Sparrow as her protégé, would rock. (Feel free to use this idea, Disney. I won't sue you, heck, I won't even demand a screen credit. ;) )
