the one thing when it comes to Technology is the Sound System and I've always wondered which one would be my money's worth of getting as should I buy Noise-Cancelling Headphones or a Bose Home Theater System that makes you feel like your in the Movie but still at home or in the Movie Theater?

It really depends on what your end purpose is going to be. A theater system has a different use than headphones. If you travel or are on the go a lot then you are going to get more use out of a pair of headphones. If your lounging around the house or watching TV then a home theater system would be better. Also check reviews on products you can find better sounding products than Bose in the same price range. I will say Bose makes the best noise canceling headphones on the market if you are wanting to use them in a loud environment.

Bose are great when it come to headphones (I note that everyone on the NFL sidelines is wearing a pair). However, I'm afraid its a different story when its comes to home cinema surround sound. There is nothing wrong with what they produce, its loud, it fills a room with sound, BUT, you'll get more bang for your buck from buying separates.

I was in your position a couple of years ago - ready to fill my front room with sound and bring my movie collection alive. There is a UK magazine called What HiFi and the online version has a huge section on TV and audio. They do an annual feature listing the years best TVs, Speakers, Blu Ray players, Amplifiers, etc in different price brackets.
I read the reviews of the equipment in my price bracket and then went along to my local HiFi specialist shop (by appointment) and road tested a couple of equipment set ups with a couple of my chosen movies. Its also a great way to spend a miserable winters afternoon.

I now have a fantastic Cinematic Experience in my front room with top of the range equipment and it still looks like a front room.

Do your research - there is better equipment out there for the same sort of money that you want to spend

Agree with both of the previous posters. The Bose noise-cancelling headphones are very nice, but home theater wise you can do a lot better for the same amount of $$. It'll just take some research. Check for any local places that might do high end audio sales. We have one in Maryland called Gramophone and they will do a full outline of different options for your room (you bring them measurements) in different price ranges so you can really get the best equipment for your situation.

Below - Panasonic plasma 55" TV, B&W front left and right speakers all sat on the bespoke furniture which I designed specifically for the set up.
Out of shot is the B&W sub woofer (off to the right) and behind where I'm stood are the rear B&W surround speakers

In the centre unit (bottom to top) - ONKYO Amplifier, Panasonic VHS + DVD player, Panasonic Blu Ray, and, Satellite TV receiver. Sat on top of the TV Receiver is the centre speaker for the 5:1 B&W surround system.

Agreed on the comments on Bose. But, in their defense, I would say they make a good, ready-to-roll, out of the box product. If you are looking for something to plug in and work - Bose may be for you. Going the separates route requires some knowledge of how audio systems work, and will never quite be a turn on and forget. Bose can be very much turn on and forget.

Although not as good as a separates system, a Bose home audio system will sound considerably better than any standard TV audio.

My mother has a Bose surround system that was mediocre at best for a long time. A friend of her's son came and tuned it (I didn't know that was possible with Bose surround systems) and it's leaps and bounds better. I would still put a good separate component system in over it. but as @wdwmagic said, the Bose systems really are good for a set it and forget it build.
On the other hand, I have a set of bose 301 series II in my garage hooked up to an older onkyo receiver that seriously sing. I bought both the receiver and speakers at a garage sale...amazing budget setup. Good luck in your audio search!

Sennheiser headphone/ear buds or bust. True quality all around and mixed better than Blows.

No highs all lows, gotta be bose.

I have a pair of skull candy in ear monitors I use while doing yard work, working out, or any thing outside the house. for the price, they actually sound very good. I would compare them to actual monitors. The bass is controlled, the highs are not tinny. That was my main complaint with the lower end Bose cans, & the overly expensive beats cans my wife bought me. They had some much bass it was over kill for anything outside hard rock and rap. It destroyed r&b, soft rock, comtimerary pop and country (Imo). I had a set of Bose in ear studio monitors when I was a studio musician years ago. They were the clearest bass and cleanest drums I ever heard! They were also 600 bucks...so they should be that good, but when plugged into any other source than a monitor and they were mud city. Go to a shop and try out as many as possible. We did when was living in Denver. It was interesting. I was about to buy a set of bang and olufsen headphones that were supposed to be the best you could ever buy....they weren't.
