Okay, here is my report for a few short half-days at MK and Epcot for 9/28 - 9/30.
Started at Boardwalk on Friday night 9/28. Broke strap on stroller that holds up bottom basket thingy. Ears still ringing from DW for that. Made note to let her set up stroller from now on. Things not starting off too well. Got a drink and decided to hit Epcot instead of DHS. Oops, bad idea! Forgot about Food & Wine Festival. Line at Int'l Gateway was back out to the old bus drop off area. Never seen the entrance line here that long before. Had to exchange DD4 ticket voucher for her very first annual pass and there were problems at the ticket counters. Wait some more. Finally get in Epcot and people everywhere. Yikes! We did like the wine glass holders some of the "professional" drinkers had around their necks (with wine still in them even). Walking to front of park was a little crazy, but things were not too bad up in Future World. DS5 wanted to ride TT so bad even though I told him it would be closed. He made us walk over there and he asked the CM why it was closed. She was very nice and said to come see her (Ciara) on our next trip and she would make sure he would not have to wait and would let him right in with a Fastpass. I will remember her, but do you think she will remember us? We will see in November. DS5 just reached height requirements and rode M:S (green) for first time and loved it. Nemo and friends were next and just fine for the kiddos. Tackled Spacechip Earth. Rome burning smell was working but seemed greater just before the burning scene. The descent is still REALLY boring. When are they gonna fix it back? Lost DW and DD4 at this point, but we were going to eat in Japan so rendevouzed with them there. Heard Night Ranger as we passed the American pavillion. Good night, but crowded with F&W peeps.
Got to MK around noon thirty on Sat. 9/29 and had problems with new pass for DS5. Strange, because it worked fine the evening before at Epcot. Had to use old pass, but we got in. Move it, Shake it or whatever name parade it is was in HUB so we scooted by Caseys and went to see PotC in AL. DD4 saw Ariel and we had to stop for a conversation and photo! Okay, the pirates welcomed us and the rest of central Florida. Boy was it crowded here today. Don't know why, but best guess is maybe it had to do with Halloween partys sandwiching a Saturday and everyone wanted to get a full day in at MK. Everything was so crowded. We did do a lot though and even got to eat lunch at the Tortuga Tavern so not a bad day. After waking up in the middle of Small World, I did notice that the ferris wheel at the end was not working only because my son kept pointing out the mad clown and how funny he thinks that is. Saw some new construction on the new mine train coaster in the NFL. That thing looks bigger and better than I thought or imagined they would be putting in there. Can't wait to ride it. Moved over to Dumbo next and was pleasantly surprised with the setup of the waiting area in the big tent even if it was a little loud and my kids kinda disappeared in there for a while. Grandma panicked, dad here knew they were ok (I think), mom never knew cuz she was shopping. Gotta say the air conditioning is better than the heat that is for sure. On to Space Mountain and my DS5 who rode Mission Space the night before gave it some extra thought because he knew it was DARK in there. He decided to give it his first ride, but said he did not like it because it was a little fast and dark for him. He said he was only five, didn't I know? Hit Peter Pan and Pooh with fastpasses, ate a flatbread with Pinnochio and let my DD4 drive me around on the Tomorrowland Speedway. Were back at hotel by 9pm. Great afternoon and evening.
Sun. 9/30 planned on pool in morning, drive home after a couple hours. Did that, and DW said she was disappointed because we did not get a Dole Whip (her favorite) and said we should go to MK a couple of hours, eat luch, do what we could and get a Dole. Sure, why not? She did not need to drive home, I did. Well, she did not have to tell me twice. We got out of the pool and headed to MK. Wow, where did everyone go? The place had half of the people in the park than the day before. What a difference. We ate at Caseys, hot dogs and corn dog nuggets all around! Gotta love that cheese sauce too, good on everything. Headed over to Buzz and, wait, that can't be right. Only 10 mins. at 1pm. Pretty much walked on. Kids wanted to do Stitch. Ok, but my DS5 still holds his ears the whole time. Too funny. DD4 loves it when Stitch "slobbers" on her. Headed over to PotC and decided to ride Carpets of Aladdin since noboy was in line. Boy, I see why they are closing it for a refurb. That thing needs some serious love. It was all beaten up, paint chipped/peeled, mildewed and very worn. Definitely did not seem very "Disney", not even up to Universal standards. Hope they get that all taken care of. Said goodbye to Capt. Jack and the rest of the pirates and got my Citrus Swirl while my DW got her Dole. We will never agree on what is best, but I just do not like pineapple. We both enjoyed though. Had another great afternoon and headed off into the sunset, well off to home anyway. We will be back again in November. Can't wait to see the New Fantasyland!
