Short Trip Ticket Paradox

I'm planning a short trip. My wife and I will need only 1 day at MK and 1 day where we plan on jumping from DHS to Epcot.
Looking up ticket prices, I found the following:
2 day + PH = $517

But if I split up the days, I get the following:
1 MK day (no PH) = $202
1 other park day + PH = $275
for a grand total of $477 ($40 cheaper than doing it as one ticket)

Two questions:
1) Can I do this? (We are staying on property with Magicbands, etc)
2) Should I do this (or did I miss something)?

We contemplated all of this as well. We are going at the beginning of May for 4 nights. After all was said and done we decided it would be easier and worth the cost to do a 2-day hopper w/the new Magic Bands system. You don't HAVE to link your tickets to your room...but it may just be simpler to splurge and get a two day hopper. Have you checked EMH days? that helped us decide

It works out that way because the Park Hopper option gets a discount when it's for a 1-day ticket.

A few things about linking multiple tickets to your MDE account for Magic Bands to be able to access them:
-Yes, you can link multiple tickets.
-When you link multiple tickets it'll have you assign them a priority order with which the admission gates will charge admission days.
-This priority system hasn't been the most-reliable part of MDE, though the only second-hand stories I've gotten were from back in September/October. They may have ironed out the kinks by now.

If you want to play it safe, buy the tickets buy only link the first day's ticket. Use that to make that day's FP+ choices. After you go to the park on that first day, then you can link the second ticket and make your FP+ selections for the next day. A few extra steps mid-trip, but it would avoid many of the potential glitches.

Or, link them both, assign the priority order, and give it a try.

Like your idea to link one ticket at a time .
Last trip I had my annual passes linked. We were also on a package with a two day ticket which we were planning to save for the future( price wise it was worth doing to get the food). So these two day tickets were linked too. Never saw anything that let's you prioritize tickets. Asked at Pop about it when I checked in and was told AP's would be used first. Nope didn't happen. Found out my 2 day tickets were used and went through a nightmare getting them back. The manager said a CM is suppose to make a call to who I'm not sure to prioritize them and that fixing this problem is on a long list of things to be worked out and not very high on the list. This is just what happened to us. So I wouldn't recommended putting different tickets on your account.

Thanks for the input, all. I think I'm going to try my luck with the prioritizing so that FP+ will be available pre-trip. These are the days I miss the no expiration option...

Funny thing just happened as I tried to purchase on the website…
-I am using a Disney Visa Rewards Redemption Card for about $73 and putting the balance on a credit card.
-Whenever I enter info and then click "review" to check out there is an error message "please select a form of payment" even though the balance says 0
-I tried using the "chat" help to fix the problem
-The chat helper first told me to reload the page (duh)
-That didn't work so he told me hit back and then try again (ok)
-Still didn't work so he told me to call to buy my tickets (ha!)
Glad the website was so quick and easy! :banghead:
