a family friend owns there and loves it. its perfect and clean and there are alot of activites. I cant say about the bus service to the parks as they rent a car when they go, but its amazing. i stayed there 17 years ago ( i was 3) and i loved it, especially the pools. the rooms were nice ( the bits and pieces i can remember lol) i remember we stayed there to visit universal after disney world and the portorleans ( whatever the original name). it is on par with the delux disney hotels, however alot less expensive. if you do stay i highly suggest renting a car or taking a cab to the parks. also grocery shop at one of the local supermarkets or call ahead delieveries instead of buying groceries at their mini mart
The Vistana has also recently (within the past couple of years or so) undergone a renovation to the majority of their condo units. Each has a (apartment-sized) washer and dryer, and I seem to recall their pools were nice as well, in case you wanted a break from the parks one day. But the complex itself is very convenient to WDW overall, and there's plenty of shopping and restaurant options on Rte. 535.
I had a horrible experiance at Vistana several years ago, I'd say around 2005. So judging from everyone elses comments the managment must have improved greatly or my experiance was a total fluke.
We were very pleased with the actual accomodations, the condos are very nice themselves. We just had a cleanliness issue, upon getting into bed the evening we arrived we found that the sheets on one of the beds hadn't been changed or cleaned. And when I say hadn't been changed or cleaned, there were fresh stains and what appeared to be pubic hair on the sheets. When we called and complained it took hours for them to bring fresh sheets and then they didn't pick up the dirty ones, they left them in floor of the living room area. When we complained to management we were offered a $25 gift certificate to use on the premises. We declined because to be honest after finding dirty sheets we weren't very trusting of anything else they had to offer especially spa services. We wanted to leave after the first night but they wouldn't refund us for the other nights so we washed the new sheets they gave us and stuck it out. (Which brings me to a positive, the washer/dryers are very convienant if you're staying for a lengthy period)
We were very dissapointed because with them being a Sheraton we expected better.
As I said though, this has been 6 years ago and it could have been random bad luck. But it was enough for me to never go back.
We found the place to be a little odd when we stayed here in 2008. The transportation to the parks was horrendous, but you will have a car. For a resort with thousands thay had a little variety store and a very small restaurant. The pool area was ok. The room was the best part. You entered into a full kitchen, behind that was a dining area and a small living area. to the left was a washroom and then a big master bedroom with a king bed and a jacuzzi tub.
The whole experience put us into the never stay again off property camp.
I might be able to post a few pics hopefully by the weekend
