So I was alway's interested in swimming with sharks ect. I came across the Shark Reef at Typhoon Lagoon. Was wondering if it was worth i? Do you have to pay for a park ticket to get in or can you just pay to do that one thing? Is there any other place at disney or close by to do this?

It's included with your admission to Typhoon Lagoon ... it is pretty cool if your not a regular diver, you snorkel over top a man made reef with what I believe is 'nurse' sharks and other salt water fish. One thing however, is that due to the nature of the animals, the water is actually a bit on the cold side.

Do you know the cost of the park ticket to just go to that instead of getting the water park fun and more included in the package? I don't mind the cold water. How close can you get to the sharks n other fish?

YES.. It's included and it worth it... The water is freezing! And you only skim the water..no deep diving or anything...there is a age restriction if I remember correctly and there is a cool place your family can watch you underwater..it looks like a sunken ship or something but they can see you in the water.

It sound's like it would be worth it. Just trying to figure out the price for the general admission. I can't seem to find it unless I add park hopper fun and more to my trip but I don't want that just want one day passes.

I think a 1 day ticket to Typhoon Lagoon is $42.oo.

It is more of a sight seeing tour as you float overhead with a snorkel, you can get as close to them as they (the fish) want you too. You are not suppposed to dive below the surface. If you are a certified diver, then I would recommend a dive in the living seas, I've done it several times and I believe it is about $100.oo and worth every penny as it is a great experience.

Now the one that is about $100 is that on disney property or off? Trying to find the best place to swim with sharks. I've always wanted to do it & I finally got my husband to agree to doing it with me.

That is on Disney Property, it is in the Living Seas Pavilion inside Epcot Center, but you have to be a certified scuba diver, they do not do a resort certification, and you swim with sharks in there too, but the ones in the Living Seas are a little larger and more agressive than what you find in Typhoon Lagoon.

O okay. Well then I guess that one's off the list. I'm not certified haha. We will just have to do the shark reef one.

It's been well over 10 years since I've done it. But, I remember all the sea life being on the bottom. 10 - 15 feet deep. You can see plenty of stuff down there from the top.

There's also a little thing you can walk through to see them without getting in the water.

I loved it when I was young. I would do it 5 or more times. You can't really stop, you go from one side to the next and get out.

Thank u for the website. & it does look pretty pricey. Just trying to see what my options are before I settle for one that I don't really know about.

If you're going to spend money to enter Typhoon Lagoon JUST to see the shark reef, I would spend the money and do the thing at The Seas. I mean honestly, it's a 5 minute thing.

However, Typhoon Lagoon is an awesome water park. I like it much better than Blizzard Beach because it is just "cooler looking" and more relaxing. Blizzard Beach is seems to have more attractions. Also, Typhoon Lagoon has tons of shade.

The Shark Reef at TL has fish other than sharks, too, including sting rays. Typhoon Lagoon is well-themed and has outstanding attractions. It's well worth a half-day (or more) of your time.

Man that water is cold on a really hot day...sort of shocked me....but it was fun. Now, its been about 3 yrs since we did this but I remember people being able to pay extra to 'dive' w/ scuba tank for longer..not just the swim across.

Typhoon Lagoon is worth every penny. There's lots to do there and it's an absolute blast. It's also beautiful. Highly recommended.

Seas Aqua Tour

My wife and I have done the Seas Aqua Tour twice and loved it both times. It is a bit expensive but I would definitely consider spending the money to do it again.

The sharks generally keep their distance (and the larger ones stay on the bottom) but one of them got close enough to startle me when I turned around and saw him. He was probably at least 15 feet away but when you aren't expecting to see a shark it is an interesting experience.

We also got to see a variety of fish, rays, and even the sea turtles (they also keep their distance). You even get to wave to the people in the pavillion and see who waves back. They also showed us the dolphins backstage but they do not come into the same area of the tank that you get to swim in.

You get to spend around 30 minutes in the tank. The water is a little chilly but the real shock comes when you get out of the water and have to walk back through the air conditioning.

I really wish I was SCUBA certified so I could actually dive in the tank but this made for a nice alternative.

That is an understatement. It is gosh, darn freezing! But well worth doing. The fish usually aren't that close. We aren't of much interest to them and they seem quite content to keep their distance.

It's something that should be experienced. It's also one of those many things that Disney offers that most people do not think of when they think "Disney World".
