Shark Reef Life Jackets

Some of my family members are not very strong swimmers, but would like to experience Shark Reef at Typhoon Lagoon. I've read that life jackets used to be available to aid in floating across - are they still available? And are they only available in child sizes or are they also available to adults?

Yes, they do have life jackets for anyone who would like them. Just ask. There's also an underwater viewing area if someone decides they would like to see the marine life without swimming in it. Have a good trip.

I haven't been to the shark reef in about 2 years but when I went everyone was required to wear a life jacket and use a snorkel. They announce that you should be a strong swimmer because there was only the one rock to stop on in the middle of the pond otherwise you can not put your feet down. This being said I've seen several small children do it with the help of an adult.

We all wore jackets-me, husband and 2 boys aged 6 and 9. They loved it. Little one just got straight in and away with his dad. We spoke to the CM at the equipment window about the 6 year old who isn't a very strong swimmer. He said he'd be fine as long as one of us held his hand as the current pulls you through and you aren't actually allowed to swim as such-no kicking. Older one and I had to spend a bit of time at the entry area getting used to the feeling of the mask and our faces in the water. Thankfully it wasn't too busy and the guy on duty was so lovely. Ended up going through 5 times in a row. Would have been more if it had been up to the littleun!
