Sharing meals because I'm Diabetic?

I've been newly (about 5 months now) been diagnosed as diabetic (type II) and I really have to control my portions. So hubby and I are thinking of going to WDW in June and because of my new status we definately won't be doing the dining plan (just too much food) but we want to eat at some table service restaurants. Anyway, my question is, is there a problem sharing meals at the restaurants? Is there a plate fee? I know that we can't share at all you care to eat places, but we would like to share meals at the Kona Cafe or Le Cellier. Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks for any info.

It isn't a problem to share at menu driven restaurants. I would leave a better tip for the server as they are losing out because of someone not ordering.

And especially add a little extra if they go to the extra trouble of splitting the single serving onto two plates before delivering it to the table... (Sometimes they do that, sometimes they'll just bring a second plate and let you divvy it up yourself)

My son is a type I diabetic. My best advice for TS restaurants is this: ask to speak with the chef. We found them to be more than happy to help him choose foods that were delicious and healthy. Stay with grilled meats and load up on veggies--you should be fine. Let them know you're diabetic before you're seated.

On a side note, keep a close watch on your glucose levels. They can be affected by such things as stress, heat, even standing in lines. Disney did all they could for us, and I'm sure they will for you too. Just don't be shy about asking for what you need. It's also imperative to talk to your doctor before you go. Your vacation will be much more magical if you're not worried about medical issues that may be well-controlled. Have a great time!
