Share Your Favorite "Secret" Photo Spots at the Parks

I know that a few people on this board are at the "pro-sumer" or even professional level when it comes to photography. Well, we all know the traditional and cliche photo spots at the parks, but for those of you photo enthusiasts who also visit the parks regularly, I'm curious as to what places you might consider to be great "hidden" areas for picture taking. You know, areas that not every tourist with a camera is going to clog up.

Also, where do you like to shoot portraits?

For example, I like Tom Sawyer's Island. There's plenty of foilage to shade and diffuse the harsh Florida sun. It also sets some MK attractions off in the distance as not to be too distracting to serve as portrait backgrounds. It's also a pretty large area compared to the number of guests on the island at any given time, so there's not too much "tourist traffic."

Do any of you have favorite photo spots that not everyone knows about or takes advantage of?

I love relaxing on Tom Sawyer Island with a root beer float from Aunt Polly's. I also like taking portraits on Tom Sawyer Island looking across at the Haunted Mansion.

In world showcase in Epcot, travel through all the nooks and crannies in all the countries, there are many unusual photo ops there.

Outside the lobby for the Polynesian resort there is great foliage to take portraits in front of.

In the All Star resorts, all the giant props make great picture backgrounds

Pictures in Mickey and Minnie's house in Toontown Fair are always cool (except there are usually tons of people there....try during a parade)

Main street barber shop...they have fun props to play with

Honey I shrunk the Kids Playground in MGM, once again, try during parades.

In the photo store to the right of Tony's Town Square there are "props" where you stick your head into the hole and become part of the picture. I believe there is 101 dalmations, toy story, steamboat willie, snow white, etc, and there is nobody ever in there.

In you're resorts pool....i love pictures on a sea blue background. Make sure you get up close!

That's all i can think of for now

The only thing I like about my wife smoking is it gives me a chance to take some pictures from out of the way locations. Ironically, some of my favorites pictures I have taken have been at smoking areas.

This was taken after Fantasmic at the smoking area nearest to the main entrance of the park

Taken from the smoking area next to Pirates of the Carribean

The next two were taken at the amoking area in Harambe right after uou cross the bridge from the Tree of Life area

This was taken at the smoking area nearest to It's Tough To Be A Bug

There is also a smoking area just past the main entrance to Mouseworks that has a good place to sit and an excellent view of the fountain. So if you can stand the second hand smoke check out the smoking areas for a somewhat out-of-the-way view of the parks.

I like the Mexico Pavillion and the outside of Inoventions for some reason :). A lot of the little "ethnic" stores are good for photos also.

I personaly like to get "people" shots without them knowing. Those are the best!

Climb the tree of life and take your pictures from up there.
Also, if you were sharing a secret, it's not really a secret anymore, is it?

At the end of main street, before the hub, there is a walk way that leads to tomorrow land. It isn't the main walk way. The Ice Cream shoppe is on you right, turn. there are tables and the Plaza rest. Then there are bathrooms, and a walkway through a fast food place in Torrowland that leads to the main walkway. Anyway when you use the bathrooms down there when you come out there is the castle. Not many people and it is a good shot. Walk to the steps leading down and take the photo from the top step. The Castle is framed nicly by some trees. I'll post my photo when I scan it. How do I post photos, anyway?

YOu can't post a photo unless you're a Premium Contributor. You can put a link to a photo album of yours or another website if you have one with the picture on it.

I also was a sucky photographer 5 years ago when I took those.

In fact - I think my husband took those!!

I'm quite good with the camera now and plan to retake those pictures with a camera that cost $1,000 more than the one I took them with before.

Oh wait, I know! Take some pictures from the Magic Kingdom Train of the forest on the left side. Or of Big Thunder from the right side.

Laura, where was that first pic taken from ?

Thanks,

Somewhere near the Crystal Palace I believe. It's been 5 years so I'm not 100% sure. It's got to be easy to find though!
