being the huge englishmajor/cinema studies minor DORK that I am, I am constantly picking up on lines from disney movies that are near or completely shakespeare quotes. If anyone out there can think of a few, and please post them, that would be great. I eventually want to write a thesis on shakespeare in popular culture, or even shakespeare and his role in Disney movies.

Thanks. :D

The Lion King is very similar to Hamlet with the Fathers Ghost scene and stuff like that.
I can't think of any actual quotes though.

Actually, all of Lion King is Hamlet. Look at it...

Evil Uncle kills brother... gains control of kingdom... son/nephew is emotionally and mentally torn by whole situation... discovers himself... kills uncle...

Lion King only has a happy ending and well, not the whole uncle marrying brother's widower thing.... and protagonist dying (that might have been a little much).

And the second one is based on Romeo and Juliet. The rumored third project is (I'm guessing) King Lear... (that's a joke, dont take that as fact).

"10 Things I Hate About You" is a modern adaptation of Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew." And Shakespeare even gets a writing credit for the film.
"Dead Poets' Society" and "Renaissance Man" also reference Shakespeare.
Enjoy!

In Hercules The 3 witches give Hermes 3 prophesies, and say if these come true you will not rule Mt. Olypus. In Macbeth the 3 witches tell Macbeth 3 prophesies, and they came true. Do you see the connection.
