Is this resort for only retired Military or EX Military as well? My daughters FiL is ex military, but not retired from the Military but rather the Post Office.

Occasionally they'll open reservations up to all veterans and not just active or retired military, though it's usually in the slow season. I'm also not sure when the last time it's actually been offered. It's been a while.

My father was 100 % disabled (Marine, pacific WWII) but passed away in 1975. I was just curious if his family was still eligible, my mother never re-married. I received disabled Vet money to go to college. Until I looked at the rules, I never even thought we might be able to stay there, just don't know if we can because dad is no longer alive? I may call them and ask, can't hurt to try, right?

Does she still have and is able to use her military Id card? If so I think you'd be ok. She would have to be present with you.

My dad looked into SOG for this last trip. The military discount that WDW gave on their resort hotels was much better though.

I believe it's based on affordability status, so a medal of Honor recipient would be able to afford more than an E1 - E5 would. Not saying that I agree, just that that is what it's based on as far as I know.

Not that I know, we lived forever by a Military Base that was closed in 1995 but we never shopped at the post. Mom just turned 92!! She loves to travel still, most recently to Rome for her 90th Birthday so she is up for travel for sure. I just know I got child of disabled vet award for college and paid nothing to go to our State University (IU!!), so she must have some paperwork. No matter, it was just a thought. I will go anyway.

Being military & a veteran I have always been tempted to stay here but with the military discount Disney offers I always got a great deal at a Disney resort. It does look pretty nice and I have heard a lot of good things about it.

I use to buy the passes Disney offered military at the parks and they're still a great buy it's like 3 or 4 days park hopper at a very nice rate. But being a FL resident I took advantage of the AP monthly pay which I highly suggest if anyone ask or is considering it. I got the premium pass and the way I pay per month I don't even notice the payments it's awesome

SOG is complicated for me, I spent 23 years on active duty, still working as a GS here on Fort Bragg..while I deeply appreciate what SOG stands for I simply dont want to see AAFES signs everywhere when Im on vacation..the theming just doesn't feel "Disney" enough for me personally..but it serves a great purpose for those that aren't as fortunate. We generally may stay there one night if we actually drive down vs flying but this only to bridge the gap that night until we check into whatever our main resort for that is going to be. Don't get me wrong its a beautiful resort its just not for me.
