Hi, Just chcked into shades of green today, and they NO longer participate n Disney's extra magic hours. They said it was too expensive for them to offer it to their guests any longer.

I heard the same thing from a friend that was at SOG over christmas. As of Jan 1, SOG guests would no longer have access to Extra Magic Hours.

I just called SOG and they confirmed that they did stop EMH as of 1 Jan 2006. Guess I will be using my FL res rates or AP rates more often now! I plan to write a few letters about this. I would hope that other SOG eligible guests will do the same.

I didn't even know that they were participating in EMH. When I stayed there back in september of '04, they didn't tell me anything about participating in them.

What is so big about extra magic hours anyway? Isn't there a lot of things to do anyway at WDW?

I plan on taking in a few days at Shades of Green and move over to one of the All-Star resorts sometime later on this year. Still working on the dates.

Last time I was at Shades of Green it wasn't Shades of Green but The Disney Inn. Of course, that was before I was in the military. It will be nice to go back to that property again and see all the changes.

EMH am means we can go to MK and experiance Fantasyland before it gets crazy! At Epcot we can ride Soarin and Test Track without waiting in line. At AK we ride Primevil Whirl many times in a row before we have to get off.

EMH pm is great in the hot months....it is so much better to go to the parks in the cooler evenings then the hot crowded afternoons.

Okay, just returned. Shades of Green no longer offers the EMH because it costs to much money for them. Although, we still got the bands. They probably haven't yet released that info to the cast members yet. Also, SOG is incredibly detached from the whole "Disney Resort Experience". Most of their buses are not even located in the same area as the Disney Resort Buses, and are not very reliable as far as figuring out where their pick ups are at MGM, Epcot, AK, and Downtown Disney. I was extremely dissappointed in them as far as that goes. They emphasize that they are a "Disney Resort", but offer few benefits that even the Budget resorts include for free like Shuttle service to and from the airports. At SOG it is 105 round trip....... I loved the hotel, hated the Disney benefits. They lost this customer also.

Yea I stayed there for about 6 days 2 weeks ago...
Ugh I was frustrated to hear about the magic hour thing.

And the busses are such a pain now. When I went summer 05 the busses where allot faster but now they are going even slower.

Example-

I go down to get on the bus and I sat on the bus for about 40 minutes and we finally left.

The next day the same thing happens...
And the day after that I was lucky because I got on the bus right before it left.
The worse thing that happens is when the bus leaves right from the TATC and you have to wait 20-40 minutes for the next one to arrive.

I've already decided not to stay there, but I am going to buy my tickets there for the parks. :D

Back in April when my fiance came home from Iraq we stayed at the All Star Music. However we did resort hop over to SOG to purchase our tickets. With my fiance being a Fl resident and military we got one hell of a discount.

You know... I was also wondering...

A few years ago, when Shades was being renovated, they closed it completely... a friend of mine who is retired military was put in the Contemporary as an alternative, but didn't pay any more than they did at Shades. Did the military pay for this also and did they have to reimurse Disney for the whole room rate or was it reduced? They could have been sent off site, but they were on.

Anybody know about this?

We actually heard about this before the new year, so we already know about it. It's still a little difficult to kill something like this cold turkey until it's had enough time to circulate to all of shades of green guests. A lot of people made reservations well in advance at SoG expecting to be able to go to EMH, so they are pretty upset when they find out that they can't.

Now whats fun is when you have a hotel (no names will be mentioned) that charge their guests an extra fee for EMH when they have no relationship whatsoever with Disney, and we absolutely do not give wristbands to guests at that resort and simply tell them they need to take it up with their resort. What's even funnier is that they have been told to stop doing that several times.

Yoop33...Shades of Green is actually located across from the Grand Floridian...not directly across, but in that general region if memory serves me correctly.

Shades of Green is once again participating if EMH. I received an e-mail from them saying they had negotiated a deal with Disney for the upcoming year. More info on this link http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1000124.

SOG is not a "Disney Resort." The military have leased the property from Disney. It is located across from the Poly. My husband and I stayed there last October and loved it.

The rooms were enormous with queen size beds, sleeper sofa, and hugh bathroom, small fridge, in-room safe and a table with 2 chairs. We were in the new section on the 3rd floor, with a balcony view of the golf course. We were there during the Funai PGA golf tournament. We got to see the pros tee off every morning. We were on the 1st tee. We also got complimentary tickets to the tournament.

The restaurants were extremely affordable and tax free. There are 3 (Garden Gallery-buffet, Evergreen's Sports Bar, and Manginos- Italien.) They have a lounge if you like to indulge. There are two ice cream parlors and a store with everything you could possibly need, tax free.

We used the bus service every day. As long as you follow the printed bus schedule they give you at check-in, there should be no problems. We paid $106. a night and no tax. There are less than 600 rooms, so we found the resort extremely peaceful after a long day at the parks. They also

We plan on returning to SOG with our 3 grown children in early May, 2007.
We will all be staying in one room for $156. a night. At that price, we can can spend more days at Disney. Everybody has their onn opinion, but we loved it!!!

We and several others followed the bus schedules to a t and still had problems. Perhaps during our stay, the buses were not running as they should have been. I agree though, I think the food at the SOG is fabulous especially for the cost. The service was good also. Glad to see that they have the EMH back. I might just reconsider and go back to them. The rooms are large and it is not only a short walk to the poly, but also a short walk to the TTC.
