That being said, I'll chime in with what I thought. But first, I must say I LOVED Alien Encounter. It was the only truly scary ride at WDW. I loved hearing people scream ALL the time. So, I figured SGE would be a letdown. After riding it, I will say that IMO that is the case. The theming is actually very nice, almost better than AE. The videos are subpar animation quality, even for stitch style.

I don't really want to ramble on, so I'll just touch on the major points. The ride lacks the evil feel of AE, and I miss that. The chambers are missing the low rumbling bass, and I miss that. The lasers are REALLY cool. I hope they don't break down. The Stitch animatronic is VERY impressive. I was really glad they kept the extended stretches of pitch black, HOWEVER, the activity during that time was so drawn out and (mostly) boring that I felt like I was back at Sounds Dangerous... and thats a BAD thing.

My biggest issue? The ending. What in the world is that... it practically feels like the kick you out. Ah well, I'll miss AE but I'm guessing the kids will like this one better.

I'll be there in 7 days to try it out myself.

I saw one of the videos taken inside and my opinion just from the video is that the middle part of the main show is a little too drawn out and lacking real story.

I think, honestly, that I'll end up loving this attraction, but at the same time, I also think we'll eventually see some changes to the show. Sorry AE fans but you will never see SGE become more "evil". I understand there's a difference of opinion as to what the evil factor does for the attraction, but for me personally, it'd put me off and I'm glad SGE doesn't have that evil factor. Others may feel differently and I respect their viewpoint. I doubt that an "evil" Stitch ride would go down well with the guests, though.

I expect, if enough guests complain or if the loads on the ride begin to decline, we'll see SGE get a small makeover in the early part of 2005, around spring or so. It'll be temporarily shut down, and a few changes will be made, but nothing major.

Disney's been doing the questionnaire cards and if the response is lukewarm I can bet you right now that they're eyeing different options: including just leaving the attraction as-is indefinitely, to a full scale makeover. We'll see what ends up happening. But i reserve the bulk of my judgement until I see it in person. The fact that I'm an enourmous Stitch fan though is bound to tilt my bias in favor of the attraction.
