Pre-Trip Sept 23-Oct 1

Hello!

We are getting so close to being able to make FP, but I couldn't wait any longer to share our plans. We have an exciting trip coming up!

First off, the crew:
Me, DW, our DS4 and my parents, Mom and Dad. We've all been before lots of times. It will be DS's 3rd trip. We are staying at the boardwalk in a 2-bedroom villa. My mom's DVC home is Boardwalk. I really wanted to be at Beach Club, but we couldn't get it. It's ok. The clown slide isn't too creepy... Everyone but my dad has an AP and we have a tables in wonderland card that we bought on our trip in April. We plan to do a lot of eating.

So we all arrive on the 23rd, which is a Friday. We should be to the resort around lunch time. We will hopefully be able to check out the room, but if not we will drop the bags and head for Epcot. We will try for a frozen or Soarin FP for the afternoon. We have dinner reservations at Teppan Edo then might walk around, or if it's too busy we will head back to the hotel for a swim before bed.

The next morning is an early morning breakfast at Akershus. Yay princesses! DS loves meeting all of the characters. He does not care if he has no idea who they are. He tells them things and often he and the princesses have whispered conversations. He never tells us what they said! We'll do all the lovely Epcot things. My dad requested a meal at Biergarten, so we have that lined up for dinner. It's not my favorite. My little family unit doesn't eat pork, so German sausages doesn't really do it for us, but I like to see my dad happy. After dinner we will probably head back to the room. Saturday food and wine and a 4 year old probably don't mix that well.

Sunday is an Animal Kingdom day. We will probably head over early. Ride some rides and see some critters. We have a lunch reservation at Sanaa, so we'll explore over there a bit and take a break from rides. We have Dinner at Tiffins and will probably go back to the room after that. We have evening plans for AK later in the week.

Monday is a half-rest day. Maybe we can sleep in. We have lunch reservations at the Boathouse in Disney Springs. We would like to do the balloon ride and look around. In the evening we have the illuminations dessert party. Chairs would be nice, but we aren't fancy. I can sit on the ground.

Tuesday is an early morning, but we are finally headed to the Magic Kingdom! I'm honestly not sure that we will make it this far into the trip without heading over there. We shall see. We have a breakfast in the castle! I'm not excited about the food, but DS is excited about the castle. The current plan is to head back to the hotel for some down time in the afternoon. We will either get some dinner at the Boardwalk Bakery, or keep our Tusker House reservation. I will cancel it well ahead of we decide we don't need it. We will be going to the DVC evening activities and thought it might be nice to start with dinner. We shall see.

After all that fun we have a pool day scheduled for Wednesday. DW and I have a yachtsmans reservation for dinner and DS and the grandparents have a Beaches and Cream reservation.

Thursday we have a breakfast at Cape May Cafe and then an open schedule. We might hit MGM. We are going to the Halloween party, so nothing too strenuous.

Friday we may head over to MK in the afternoon and we have Hoop-De-Doo reservations. We love this show. If you haven't been, I highly recommend it. We try to go every trip.

Our last day is Saturday. Our flight out is fairly late, I'm expecting the bus to retrieve us around 4:30pm, so we will go into Epcot. We have a lunch reservation at te garden grill. DW doesn't really like the spinning, but our very best character interactions have been at this restaurant.

So obviously there's a lot to fill in and things may change. We're super excited!

Your plans sound great!! They sound a lot like mine! We will also be at Boardwalk Villa's, from Sept 22nd-Oct 2nd. If you see a very outgoing & chatty 4 year old girl at the pool, trying to be new best friends with your DS, that's probably my daughter! :) My husband & I and our 1 year old son will be there too. Fingers crossed for beautiful weather & low crowds for all of us.

We'll lookout for you! DS loves making friends. I wish the little playground there was bigger, but it should be good.

64 days to go!!! Honestly I'm having trouble not packing. It's a tad early, probably, right?

So, this is us:

I'm on the left, J in the middle and DW Lauren on the right.
This is from our April trip. DS was technically 3 at the time, but only a month away from 4.

This is my first time adding a picture, so I hope it works!

Happy birthday to me! We have FP! I'll post an updated itinerary later. We are also planning to ditch a couple of ADRs. I think most people will agree, but I'm open to opinions. It's hard for me to let them go. But these aren't exciting ones, so it's probably fine.

Ok. Updated plans:
Day 1- (Epcot Day)
Friday the 23rd
Flight arrives at MCO around 10:30am.
We'll head to the Magical Express and hopefully pull up at the Boardwalk by noon. My parents' flight arrives about an hour before ours, so maybe they will have checked in by the time we get there. We did online check-in for our April trip, and that was great. I'm not sure my mom will want to skip the front desk, but we shall see. Either we will head to the room, or drop our bags in the lobby and head to get some lunch. Depending on our crankiness levels we might go to the Boardwalk Bakery or head to Epcot for some fish and chips from the UK.
We'll make our way to the front of the park and ride Spaceship Earth (FP1-2:55-3:55). Maybe after we will head to the Seas? We don't usually plan everything out, so we will probably check wait times and see what everyone wants to do. We have FP2-4:20-5:20 for the character spot. Everyone should start their trip with a hug from Mickey, right? We have dinner at Teppan Edo in Japan at 5:30. It's a family favorite, but DS hasn't been yet. After dinner we will try to stay awake long enough to drag ourselves over to Norway to ride Frozen (FP3-7:05-8:05). After that it is back to the room (or to the room for the first time) to put DS to bed and relax before our big day #2!

More to come...

Day 2 (Epcot/Magic Kingdom/Epcot)
Saturday the 24th
Originally we had planned this to be an Epcot day, but looking at the rest of our plans and considering that this is Saturday during the food and wine festival we thought it made more sense to hit the Magic Kingdom during the day. So we start our day with an early breakfast ADR at 8:00am with the princesses in Norway. After breakfast the plan is to hit maybe 1 ride in Epcot. Either Frozen, Test Track or Soarin. But only if we get out of breakfast before park opening. Sometimes with the character meals it takes awhile. After our ride or breakfast we will head for the monorail and ride into the Magic Kingdom. Our plans are to head through tomorrowland and fantasyland. We have basically back-to-back fast passes for Winnie the Pooh (FP1-11:15-12:15), Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (FP2-12:20-1:20), and the Tomorrowland Speedway (FP3-1:35-2:35). We'll meander around and then take the monorail back to Epcot to have dinner in Germany at 5:30. I suspect we will probably head back to bed after dinner. Next up Animal Kingdom!

Day 3 (Animal Kingdom)
Sunday the 25
We're maybe going to try to hit rope drop at Animal Kingdom. If we do we'll hit the Safari twice we have our first FP (FP1-9:25-10:25) for Safari. We like to see the animals and J has the little booklet to collect badges. He's been working on it for the past 2 trips, so he has a lot of the stickers. We'll head toward Asia and go see the Tigers. And maybe do Kali (FP2-10:25-11:25). I kind of hate this ride. I really don't want to be the person who gets soaked. But DS loves this ride. And so far we've been lucky. My parents might skip I though. We might do Everest if DW and I want to do it. My mom doesn't like to go backwards. And DS currently isn't tall enough. He's 42" barefoot, but he would need to be 44". Think he'll grow an inch or two in the next 60 days? I guess it's possible, but I'm not expecting it. We'll check out the Rivers of Light setup and go see Nemo (FP3-11:30-11:50). J has been watching this show on YouTube and loves it. I hope he likes it in person too.
Currently we have a lunch ADR at 12:15 at Sanaa. We're planning to cancel that since we don't really need it and leaving the park and coming back is a hassle. We had originally planned to be at the park all day to see the night stuff, but we're now doing that later in the week, so we don't need our break from the park quite as much. After Nemo we will get lunch somewhere. The food options aren't great for us at AK, so we often end up at Pizzafari. After lunch we'll explore the animal trails some more, let J play in the Dino area, then we have dinner at Tiffins at 5:10. After dinner we'll see how people feel. I'm guessing we will want to go back to the hotel.

Up next a "rest" day.

Day 4 (a "rest" day)
Monday the 26th
Our tentative plan is to sleep in (ha! Like that will happen...) and then head to Disney Springs. We'd like to see it and maybe do the balloon ride. I'm not really into malls, especially expensive malls, but we can check out the Disney themed stores and get lunch someplace. Currently we have reservations at the Boathouse at noon. We're planning to cancel it since there are so very many options for food. Unless someone has a really good reason to keep it?
My parents want to do DHS in the afternoon, so we have the following fast passes:
FP1-3:15-4:15 Toy Story
FP2-4:30-4:45 Disney Junior Show
FP3-5:20-6:20 Tower of Terror
We aren't sure if we are going to bring J through DHS because we would like to avoid Star Wars characters. But my parents can go, or we can all go. If we don't go we're going to hang out at the pool. We're going to need dinner somewhere. Maybe the Boardwalk Bakery? We'll head to Epcot in the evening as we have reservations for the sparkling dessert party. DW heard something about nachos. Has anyone been? Do you have pictures? Since we'll be up super late we will obviously have an early start the next morning, so off to bed!

Day 5 (Magic Kingdom/Animal Kingdom)
Tuesday the 27th
We are getting up early. I mean EARLY. We have 8:00 reservations for Cinderella's Royal Table. When I made the reservation they hadn't extended the early morning fantasyland ticketed event, but they have now and it just so happens to be on our early Magi Kingdom morning. I'm a little disappointed, but it'll be fine. After breakfast we're headed to adventureland! We might do carpets, and then head to jungle cruise (FP1-9:45-10:45) before heading to Fronteirland. We might skip pirates. We did it in April, but I kind of regretted it at the time. I'm crushed that thunder mountain is going to be down. Not as sad as my mom, it's her favorite ride ever, but still pretty sad. But we can still do Splash Mountain (FP2-10:45-11:45) and then head to the Haunted Mansion (FP-11:45-12:45). J loved this ride in April. I don't think he quite gets it, but he likes to talk about the ghost host and says in his best ghost voice, "there's no windows or doors, so you have to get out with me!" It's pretty adorable. Lunch maybe at Columbia Harbor House before heading back to the hotel to rest and maybe swim. We have an exciting evening, so we'll head to Animal Kingdom. We have dinner reservations at 5:25, then my mom got us tickets for the DVC evening Animal Kingdom party. It's still not totally clear what this will entail, but we'll hang out for a few hours, check out the evening safari, drink some lemonade, maybe watch a water light show? We can sleep in the next day, so we're going to stay as late as seems not crazy.

More coming...

Day 6 ("rest" and Epcot and date night)
Wednesday the 28th
We can sleep in today. Hooray. When we wake up we'll head to Epcot. J loves Spaceship Earth (FP1-10:05-11:05) so we'll head over there before trekking all the way across the park to ride Frozen (FP2-11:25-12:25) and then having lunch somewhere. Mexico is convenient, but I love the quick service in Morocco. After lunch maybe we'll head for the Seas (FP3-1:30-2:30). J wants to ride figment I loved Figment as a kid. And Captain EO. Sigh. So, we'll do those things. Maybe check out the DVC lounge, maybe hit the special credit card meet and greet luckily my mom has all these things. At some point we'll head back to the hotel. Maybe some creepy clown pool time. DW and I have a date night. We're going to dinner at Yachtsmans at 5:30. J and his grandparents have a 6:00 reservation at Beaches and Cream. Either they will get dinner someplace else and get ice cream at B&C or they will get dinner there. We don't have post dinner plans. Maybe DW and I will head to Magic Kingdom for EMH. Maybe we will be tired. We shall see.

Day 7 (Halloween!)
Thursday the 29th
We have breakfast at 8:20 at the Cape May Cafe. I haven't eaten here before, but we love character meals, so, yay! After breakfast we're planning to hang out by the pool. Writing this it feels like we have a lot of pool time planned, but we never really do that much pool time. We're really trying to make it happen this time. Maybe we'll eat lunch by the pool! I always imagine doing that and it never quite happens. After lunch we are headed to the Magic Kingdom. Here's a preview of J's costume:
image.jpg

I've got some white buttons for the shorts and we're working on yellow shoes.
I couldn't really decide what to do about MK fast passes. Here is what I got:
FP1-2:30-3:30 Meet Mickey
FP2-3:50-4:50 Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
FP3-4:50-5:50 Peter Pan

Then it's trick-or-treating, the most awesome parade and maybe some hocus pocus witches singing!

A few more days coming soon.

Day 8 (Epcot, Magic Kingdom and a boat ride to my childhood)
Friday the 30th
We're doing a morning at Epcot. The plan is to head to Soarin at rope drop, then Living with the Land (FP1-9:25-10:25). We haven't done the new Test Track and J is tall enough and loves "big kid rides", so Test Track (FP2-10:25-11:25) here we come. A quick hug from Mickey and the gang at the character spot (FP3-12:10-1:10).
We have an ADR for Be Our Guest at 2:25. This is all I could get and I'm still trying to get something better. The timing of this is obviously not ideal. But, from Magic Kingdom we can take the boat to Fort Wilderness! Hoop-Dee-Doo is my favorite. Does anyone remember Melvin the moose? I think he was in pioneer hall for breakfast. Anywho. When I was a kid my family would drive down and camp in our pop-up. From New Hampshire. So I like to go a bit early. J likes to play on the playground. I like to go see the horses. I miss the petting zoo. The goats always jumped on my aunt. Every time. Memories...
So, we're going to the Hoop-Dee-Doo. Then back to the hotel to pack. :(

Day 9 (our last day-Epcot)
Saturday the 1st
Our flight is pretty late. I'm guessing the Magical Express will arrive around 4:30. My parents don't leave until the next day, so we can keep our carry-ons in the room while we head to Epcot for one last time. We'll check our bags in the morning and head to Soarin (FP1-9:05-10:05) and Living with the Land (FP2-10:10-11:10) before going to lunch at the Garden Grill at 11:40. We needed a third fastpass, so Spaceship Earth (FP3-12:30-1:30) it is. Epcot is seriously lacking in fast pass options.
So back to the hotel. Last minute packing and whatnot. Then home :(
I hope I can write everything up for a proper trip report when we get back. It's going to need pictures. There are too many words here. Not enough pictures.
