Which is less expensive? Having Disney arrange my flight via. their online trip planner, or me booking my own flight? I havent been to WDW since I was a kid, and am overwhelmed with questions/options.

it depends. i would do my research on travelocity and other travel sites before calling and seeing what disney has to offer.

Depending on the market (beginning airport and end airport), Disney may have arranged bulk air rates for a good price, but be sure to check the policies on these flights; some can be limiting in what you can do.

Some travel agents specialize in finding the best rates for clients, many have been doing this for years and have the best computer equipment (access to a GDS system) to check for you, however, since airlines don't pay commission to agents, you may end up paying these professionals a fee for their service. Just something else to consider.

I have been booking my flight, along with family and friends' flights for years. I like knowing and seeing what I am getting, where I could be sitting, etc.. Also, if there is a decrease in flight price AFTER booking, there are a few airlines that will offer you an "airline credit" that typically expires one year from issue.

I have been flying AirTran for 6 years now, and EVERY flight had eventually come down in price. I have used those "airline credits" for paying baggage fees and seat upgrades (if Business Class is available), and even used some left over credits to book a one-way flight!

But, if you like not having to deal with the hassle of booking a Disney trip, there are a couple reputable agents to work with (i.e. AAA, Kingdom Konsultants).

Good luck!

We're still looking for cheaper flights. We'll probably end up driving like always!
Kayak as well as many other online services have fare watcher features. All you have to do is set up your flight criteria and it will email you when a price comes up equal to or under the price you set. It is a great feature for a situation like yours where you plan on driving, but will fly if you can get a particular price.

I have never heard of getting "airline credit" if the airfares decrease AFTER bookings. thats just luck what time you book and fare you get. I always go with my own travel options. Its best to do a market survey to makeout the fare trends and then go for the best bargain deals available

Because of various discounts I get with tix and hotel I usually book individually. You can get fare watches with airlines too, I did with Southwest and it worked out good.

The airline doesn't just "give" you an "airline credit" if the fare happens to decrease. You have to actively watch your flight, and if it comes down in price, you call your airlines' customer service rep and ask, "Do you honor flight price decreases?" AirTran and Southwest do (they are now one family). As long as you're not changing days or flight, those 2 airlines will issue you a "credit," which must be used 1 year from issue. Your original confirmation# will also be your "credit" #.

However, be careful that the rep doesn't give you too much credit, because if you booked your seats (and paid those fees), you might've just lost them. Always have the rep review the flight, your seats (if you paid for them), and credit. Make sure everything adds up before letting the rep off the phone.

Hey, it doesn't hurt to call and ask?;)
