Second trip in December?

We haven’t been to WDW since 2018 and, with the pandemic and my poor health, I have not traveled anywhere else since August 2019. Our family (DH, me and DS 27)will be fully vaccinated soon and I’m retiring after 33 years of teaching in June. We were planning a trip to Florida in early September to visit Grandma in Clearwater, go to WDW during what would historically have been the first week of school for me as a teacher, and then continue on to South Beach. I’m very excited for this trip. We’ve booked a two-bedroom savanna view unit at Kidani. I expect that this vacation will satisfy my current Disney cravings. However, my childhood best friend’s son is getting married in St. Pete in December. Of course we will be there, but I’m toying with heading back to WDW for a couple of days after the wedding to see the Christmas decorations and stay at WL. Is that redundant? I usually don’t go to WDW more than once in a year. I’d really appreciate everyone’s feedback. Thanks!

If you’ve never been at Christmas then go!

Wilderness Lodge is stunning at Christmas and hopefully this year there will also be the gingerbread displays back. GF, BC, YC and AKL are all worth a visit. And you could go to MK if you wanted to go to a park. Or Epcot if the Candlelight Processional is back and something you’d enjoy.

You could book now and then see how much of WDWChristmas returns. You can always cancel if you change your mind.

Do you think it will be Christmas-y enough even with COVID precautions? I’m assuming there won’t be a Very Merry Christmas Party.

I would think they would still have all/most of the decorations up?? You could go through some trip reports for that time last year and see. I know some mentioned the gingerbread houses, carousels, etc, weren't there last year. I'd think they wouldn't have LESS than last year. I don't know about parties and other special festivities though...

Decorations will be up. And given the 50th is in October, I think some things will be back. Could even be a MVMCP, albeit with some differences to normal.

I don't believe it is redundant - there's WDW, then there's WDW during Christmas. Two completely different animals and my wife and I can easily say that our holiday trip last year is one of the best experiences we ever had even with Covid. I will say we did have the luxury of not being there during Christmas before, so we couldn't really 'miss' anything that Covid took away, but we both can't wait to go back to do a post-covid Christmas and get all those extra magical moments.
