Seat height on Soarin

Hi everyone,

I am hoping to take my then 6 year old son on Soarin for the first time when we head to WDW in October. For his first time I would like him to ride on the lowest seat .. which would be the back one I think ?

My question is, does anyone know the actual height that it is from the ground? I have searched and found guesstimates of around 10-15 feet but nothing concrete ? I would love to be able to show him how high it is before we even go.

Thanks to anyone who may be able to help ! :)

Disneybythenumbers.com lists the highest seat height at 40 feet. Each row is probably 6 feet or so from bottom to top (I'm thinking that the bottom does not touch the floor and the top was over my dad's head and he's 6'1") with 2 feet or so in between rows, so working backwards the lowest row would be about 20 feet up? Does my math make sense?

BTW we took my kids when they were 4 and 6 and we were on the top row and they were fine with it. Not sure if you have been on it before, but for the little ones there is a strap that goes between their legs in addition to the lap belt. When the seats first swing up I saw my daughter's face go white, but I kept my hand on her leg and once the movie started both kids were so immersed in it they were totally fine - and LOVED it. I, however, have a fear of heights and was a bit shaky!!!

Thanks for the info, it's a little higher than I was hoping for but I'm sure he will be fine, especially with the added security of the seatbelts that younger kids use. I've been on it many times and still find myself hanging on to the handles at certain parts :ROFLOL:

Talk about overreacting.

Its dark, you can't see how high you are.
You won't (or your child won't) fall.

You're probably 5 million percent more likely to be injured walking into The Land and getting to the ride then you are on the ride itself.

What exactly would I be overreacting to ? I go on the ride myself many times while I am there ... it's one of my favorites specifically because I love the sensation that it gives me of flying.

My youngest son is quite timid with new rides, especially ones that involve any type of speed or height and is trying new things each time we go and at his own pace. I don't see how wanting him to ride on the bottom row for his first time is overreacting to anything. I think perhaps the overreaction was the way you responded to my post.

I think that is a pretty good guess. I agree the bottom row would be good for a first time rider who may be slightly afraid of the height. There is a much lower sense of being whisked up high when you are on the bottom row. Good luck!

Thanks !! That's exactly my thought ... we'll start him off slow and I'm sure he'll work his way to the top in no time !!:)
