You might get a kick out of this slice of history from Sea World Aurora, OH. I found 1977 35mm Slide scans going through my files end-of-the year cleaning.

Featuring Shamu the Killer Whale, Justice League of America Super Hero Water Ski Show, Seals, Sea Lion, Otter, Dolphins, and Cap'n Kids World Sign.

I always found it curious why it was in Aurora, OH of all places. The winter climate permitted the park to be open only from mid-May until mid-September.

It was next to Geauga Lake amusement park. 30 miles from Cleveland. Driving distance of Cedar Point amusement park. But still an odd choice.

Thanks for sharing! We live about an hour away & I was there many times as a child. We were also able to take our 2 older kids a few times before it closed. Wish it was still there so we could take our DD5!!! WELCOME to the boards by the way!!!

I'm glad everyone enjoyed it! It brought back memories that I was anxious to share : My Dad took the Sea World 35mm slides. They took awhile to scan. I cleaned most of them up in Photoshop. But leaving some imperfections makes it have that nostalgic feel. A labor of love is also why I like to share them with those who can appreciate it : My Grandpa took some 8mm Disney World footage I had transferred a number of years ago I'll try to post on the Disney General Discussion forum. For people who were at Sea World Aurora like maxairmike and popcenturylover, I also have his Cedar Point 8mm (seach my amusement420 youtube channel for '8mm'). I wish I would have been able to have the 8mm film transferred to watch it with my Grandparents. We found it after my Grandma passed away. The technology wasn't available like it is now to transfer it.

I re-watched my vid. I still can not only picture but 'feel' sitting in the bleachers of the water ski stadium. Look at that weather. As I sit here typing in -8 degrees outside :

That's interesting about 2 and 3.

Cedar Point amusement park (As some of you may know it's within driving distance of where Sea World & Geauga Lake used to be.) had a dolphin show in what they used to call the aquatic stadium. They had an aquarium next door. I was too young to remember. Talk about a small pool. They tell me 2 of 3 dolphins died. The other sent to FLA. One of them was named Coco. Ironically it's now an Extreme Sports show. One of the female skater's name is Coco ; (some of them have been on America's got talent semis fwiw) Before that it was a dive show. If they ever went back to making it a water tank it'd be quite a chore. The small stadiums were/are cool.
