Sea Raycer's. Who's rented them!

We leave for Disney in 59 days and to add to our already busy week I think I want to rent a couple of Sea Raycer's.

We are staying at POR and I know they have the Raycers there to rent. What I would like to know is...Is it worth it? Do you get to go out on a larger body of water or do you only get to stay on the river? I also read that the boats at moderate resorts only go around 5mph.

What's your opinion?

You could venture all the way to DTD but at the restricted speed itnwould take a good half hour and then you'd probably head back.

If you want to travel at a good rate of speed in a large body of water, rent one from either the Seven Seas Seas Lagoon or Bay Lake marinas.

This video will help with some answers. I agree that you should rent at The Contemporary, Grand Floridian, Polynesian or Wilderness lodge. Have a great time!

I have rented them on several occasions, always from CR. The ones we rented didn't seem to have a speed governor on them, as we could get them up to fairly decent speeds on open areas. However, you are limited to travel slowly near any other boats, the docks, and the canal/passage from SSL to BL. This made it nearly impossible to traverse the entire waterfront (SSL and BL) to see all the outsides of the resorts (CR, FW, WL, GF, and Poly), the entrance to the park (MK), and the remnants of River Country/Discovery Island in less than a one hour rental, which is kinda expensive. Also took kids along, but to drive/operate their own Raycer, they needed to be DMV licensed in our state, so one kid had to ride along with another.

I have rented them plenty and always enjoyed being able to go by the Floridian and Poly and sometimes do a dead stop at a safe are in front of MK and just listen to the sounds and take in where I was. All of them have a governor I was told by the marina operator, some are just moved around during regular maintenance to different settings.

If you know your goal is to hang out by the GF or MK then you should rent around there. If you know you are going more for River Country or just less big boat crowded area then Wilderness Lodge is the answer. Renting at Beach club or POR never made that much sense to me scenic or "room to move" wise.

THanks everyone for the info! I will definitely rent from a deluxe. and thanks @Tinkerbell397 the video was great.

One more question. If someone in our party doesn't want to go on a Raycer can they hang at the resort pool while we are renting. Pool hopping is not something we would do. I'm perfectly fine with POR's pool but I would feel better knowing that my two teenagers are closer than farther away.

The pool at the CR is on the right as you walk to the marina to rent Raycers......don't think it would be an issue for anyone to stay at the pool and wait. Now that being said.....I would be hesitant to leave my child/teen at a pool if I could not be there...one never knows what can happen. Enjoy!:cat:

We need time for things to happen.
We did these our 3rd year I believe. CR is the way to go -- we got to check out River Country DI area and still had time to get over to SSL for a bit. My daughter slept through a good portion of it. We don't let her live it down and she HATES to hear about it.
