Scheduling fast passes

I've never been to Disney, Magic Kingdom or any of the parks. Going with my 4 year old next month. Should I schedule them all in the same area? For example is it too far to walk from Fantasyland to Frontierland? They are all pretty consecutive now. Whats a good strategy if arriving early? Book afternoon FP's?

Different people are going to give you different suggestions, you get an hour window to use each FP+ (unless it's a show) so you have lots of time to get around the park especially if you use your first one when it first starts. I like to book mine as early as possible that way I can get to the kiosk and book my 4th,but thats just a personal preference.

When we took our DD last year when she was 1 1/2 we really took advantage of EMH we got so much done before the park opened up. So I would suggest to take advantage of that as well.

To answer your question about walking between lands....in the Magic Kingdom, it's not a problem at all. You can cross the park in 5-10 minutes, depending on how fast you feel like walking.

The other parks, however, are more spread out and harder to navigate.

If you buy a Passporter guide book, their map sections for all the parks are printed with estimated times it takes to walk between places. For example getting from MK entrance to the hub would be a 4 min. walk. ( Crowd conditions might lengthen that walk time) It's estimates are pretty accurate. All the parks are easily traversed and after youve been through them you can find little shortcuts.

The one thing I usually forget when I initially schedule my fastpasses is to schedule in time for a lunch or dinner. If you know that you will want lunch at 12 then don't schedule a 10-11, 11-12, 12-1 or you may not have time. Also when making your fastpass selection, pick the attractions first and then worry about the time since it's usually easier to adjust the times after then to adjust the attractions.
