Saving Mr. Banks possible Oscar nominees

I know the movie is still a little while away, but I was thinking…
With the oscars being tomorrow and all, I was looking at the list of winners and nominees for Best Actor, and noticed that there was a certain trend recently of people who play famous people getting nominated. Some of those examples are:
-Brad Pitt as Billy Beane
-Daniel Day-Lewis as Abe Lincoln
-Jamie Foxx as Ray Charles
-Robert Downey as Charlie Chaplin
-Will Smith as Muhammad Ali
-Colin Firth as King George VI
-Jesse Eisenberg as Mark Zuckerberg
-Morgan Freeman as Nelson Mandela
-Frank Langella as Richard Nixon
-Sean Penn as Harvey Milk
-Denzel Washington as Malcolm X
-Ben Kingsley as Ghandi

I know that was a lot, but I wanted to get the point across. I feel that Tom Hanks, even without seeing any of the acting, will have a good chance of receiving another Best Actor Oscar nomination and possibly tying DDL with three (we all know Day-Lewis will win tomorrow!). What are your thoughts?

I agree that DDL will win, hands down.
Sorry if I seem to be nitpicking, but isn't calling many of those "recent" a bit of a stretch?

Anyway, everybody loves Tom Hanks; I think he's got pretty good odds for a nomination.

Gandhi was in 1982, so yeah, 31 years.
I don't disagree with the OP about Hanks, and about Oscar liking actors who play famous people. I'm just not sure how far back you have to go to not be "recent".

I guess when you're talking about something that goes back to 1929, maybe 1982 is recent.

It has been reported the this movie is HUGE Oscar bait from the moment the cast was announced. Hanks isn't the only award winner/nominee cast. Emma Thompson, Colin Farrell, Paul Giamatti, Jason Schartzman, big name cast. We could see lots of nominees.

I still consider those to be recent IMO.

Perfect, we can have a jolly holiday with Mr.Banks then. (I'll bet you they only show this at the Homestead/Waterfront Loew's theater and maybe Southside works or something)

IMDB lists the release date as December 20.

I read on another site that the movie is complete and has been screened by the MPAA ratings folks. It's been assigned a PG-13. That is actually promising, content-wise. Really looking forward to this one.

I saw my first R-rated movie when I was eight years old. My dad took me to see Gladiator. He then took me to see The Beach (R-rated), Coyote Ugly (PG-13) when they released in theaters. My dad clearly wasn't thinking of me, LOL.

Ummm, no. Just mentioning something I found surprising. The implication was that the film might be serious and not just a fluffy look at the making of the film.
