For those of you who have never heard of it or signed it, the "Save Roger Rabbit" petition is now up to 863 signatures as of today (October 3, 2002).

The address for this petition is:

http://www.petitiononline.com/RRABBIT/petition.html

P-P-P-P-P-P-Please keep signing it and telling others about it.

Hopefully, 2003 will be a better year for Roger Rabbit.

For one thing, a 2-disc Vista series special edition "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" DVD set is getting released...and it seems that they're putting a lot of time, effort and heart into it. Can't wait to buy it. Let's hope that this new collaboration will FINALLY spell the end of the dreaded Disney/Amblin feud.

Ironically, 2003 marks the 15th anniversary of the Rabbit and his movie.

Maybe they'll have the Roger Rabbit walk-around character come out for meet-and-greets at Walt Disney World and Disneyland again (if only for a limited time/if only for the 15th anniversary). It would also be a good way to promote the DVD.

Maybe Roger will at least make a cameo appearance on the "House of Mouse" TV series next year.

Also, Roger's image and likeness (including a giant statue of him) is being used in the 1980s section of Walt Disney World's still-under-construction "Pop Century Resort" hotel, which may finally open next year.

Maybe they'll make some new merchandise for the occasion. (It's nice that the Roger characters are still appearing on merchandise and artwork from time to time.)

I also hope that for the DVD they'll animate the Roger cartoon shorts that DIDN'T get made, including "Hare in My Soup".

P.S.--Never say something like this won't work.

Rob, I SAID that I only post these updates ONLY for those who've never heard of it!

So, please, give me a break! Besides, I have autism you know.

OK... you never told me you have autism... But judging by your rather high communicative skill (bravo you! seriously), you suffer from a Pervasive Developmental Disorder (or PDD), since from what I've read in your posts (language, grammar, etc), your Autism isn't too strong, thus leaving room for certain symptoms of Austism, but none to be typical of Asperger's or CDD.

Just some thoughts,

good luck with your campaign Phillip... you may want to move your efforts towards a written letter campaign, rather than an internet one, since you have been told about that lack of validity to online petitions.

I don't think some people are going to like this but "Keep up the updates" :)

well, lets see...

CREATOR- Amblin, aka. Steven Spielberg (just the animated version, not the character)

ANIMATORS- Walt Disney Feature Animation and Warner Brothers Studios

OWNERS-50/50 split between Disney and Dreamworks (aka, Amblin and Spielberg), with Disney retaining merchandising rights and Spielbery retaining publicity right

I SAID that I know about the darn ownership issues--that's why I created the petition. Just click the link and read the mission statement.

My family and I have been working REALLY hard on that petition, so please give us a break and sign it--it may work!

"Petitioning" got Cartoon Network to show Speedy Gonzales cartoons again, for one thing.

866 signatures now. Keep the signatures rolling in.

I also posted the updates to express my NEW thoughts/opinions that I clearly expressed when I started the topic.

And Rob, if you're there, I understand the letter-writing campaign bit, but I feel it's too late to do that...and I highly doubt that a lot of people will actually write...and it would be hard to find all the correct addresses.

Do you know about the bad blood between Spielberg and Disney too?

Anything new for RR will never happen. Spielberg thinks he got screwed with RR and won't let Disney do anything with him.

Yes, I DO know about the bad blood!

DON'T say anything new for RR will never happen, because if you don't say it, we might win and my petition may have success.

Just sign it, Rider, and please quit the pessimism and moaning...it's making me sick to my stomach!

RR will come back someday. The bad blood WILL eventually end sometime! DON'T think it won't!

phillip,

the thing about petitions is that they are voluntary. Using pressure tactics like this ("Just sign it, Rider, and please quit the pessimism and moaning...it's making me sick to my stomach!") will make it less effective. To be honest, there are lots and lots and lots of free servers out there, and message board software as well... why don't you make a Roger Rabbit forum, and advertise it via legitimate means (ie- SEARCH ENGINES!) rather than Spam every disney message board there is.

I'd sign it if it weren't for several reasons:

1. I don't like Roger Rabbit. I just don't so I don't care if he's saved or not.

2. Petitions rarely work. I'd say never in such a complicated issue as this one.

3. The problems between Speilberg/Dreamworks and Disney won't go away for a long time (ie: everyone involved has died, the companies are sold/die, or a miracle happens).
