I do not plan on renting a car this time around. I would love to hear about the best suggestions for transportation to Universal for one day. I have heard 1.Rent a car for a day from the onsite rental companies, 2 Taxi, 3 Bus, 4 Uber. I would love to hear mostly about the least cost option. What has everyone done?

Personally, I'm planning on using Lyft to get from CBR to Cabana Bay. My travel agent did give me a number for Mears shuttle transport, I think she said it was like $20 or something. I'm opting for Lyft (since I use it frequently in my home city)

call me paranoid, but isn't Uber unsafe. Not sure I want to expose my kids to that. Also, my daughter needs to be in a car seat still, not sure uber has that available as we are not bringing ours.

Towncar service is $85.00 round trip and you can schedule for what ever times you would like.

Uber is supposed to start offering car seats for the little ones soon and should be safe or as safe as taking a taxi.

Mears shuttle is cheaper, but is on a fixed schedule which may make you leave to catch a bus when you do not want.

Lynx bus will take forever and there are transfers, but is cheap.

Rent a car, but that takes time to go pick it up and drop it off and it will not save you much compared to towncar service. If you were to rent, I would rent for a 3 or 4 day window and you can at least get a better daily rate and you will have transportation for a few days.

IMHO it is either Uber or Towncar service like Quicksilver.

No more unsafe than a taxi- and regular cabs don't usually have car seats either. I think Uber is safer- no exchange of money or credit cards. More unsafe for the drivers- people are crazy

Paranoid? No just misinformed. Uber drivers are held to very high standards. Much higher than a taxi cab company or even the shuttle drivers. I happen to know an ex-con who drives for Mears and I wouldn't wish him on anyone. If you happen to use his shuttle make sure to hide your credit cards and count your money when he drops you off.

We used the Mears cabs waiting at the Saratoga Springs entrance last October to get to Discovery Cove. But I cant remember how much it cost? Does anyone know the cost from Saratoga to Universal? Just booked to go again in October this year and budgeting. Thanks

Uber is 100% safe. It's fantastic.
That said, with kid/kids in tow in car seats, I never use Uber. In those situations I use Mears limo/towncar (typically a Lincoln MKT). It's $40 to go from Disney to Uni and $45 from Uni to airport- car seats are included at no cost, just mention it during reservation. Just go on their webpage and book it up- I've used them 4-5 times now.

ETA: just noticed this is an old thread- whoops
No worries, we haven't left yet, so this is good advice. Thanks!
