Sanaa vs Boma

I guess it depends on your personal dining preferences. If you like buffets, or want to sample a wide variety of interesting items without being limited to a menu, Boma is the place for you. If you prefer a more traditional dining experience where a single dish is prepared well and with care, especially for you, Sanaa is one of the best values on property for that.

I will always choose Sanaa over Boma, but that's because I don't care for buffets. It's a personal preference, and I've heard nothing but great things about the restaurant, so don't let that persuade you. @disneysince71 is right, though. If you want the best African-inspired dining experience they have to offer in those hotels, there's no better place than Jiko.

On Sanaa, though, if you do end up there and the lounge experience is something you're into, they have one of the best bartender tandems on property in Kat and Brandon. Be sure to belly up to the bar and strike up a conversation.

We are looking to have a nice dinner at AKL without breaking the bank. I've heard rave reviews about Sanaa, and good things about Boma as well.

What would you guys recommend?

I view Boma as a meal, a "nice dinner" between the two would be Sanaa. Bouncing up and down with your plate to me anyhow, just wrecks the ambiance of a nice dinner.

I've done Boma and it was OK. Some bright spots and some low spots. On the flipside, I recommended Sanaa to a friend - a picky friend- and she came back with nothing but raves. I'd be more inclined to do Sanaa, but I think the atmosphere is swaying me some as well.

BOMA is a great buffet, Sanna was FANTASTIC, I had the chicken in the red gravy sauce, it's kind of like a curry with rice. The JIKO menu makes me drool, I am dining there this summer when I take my long trip to the world, but I am probably going to hit Sanaa this next trip in May!

In my opinion...Jiko > Sanaa > Boma

Jiko is a Signature restaurant. If you're on the dining plan, it'll cost you 2TS credits...OOP it'll be close to $100 if not more, but it's worth every penny. We've gone there 4 times since 2009, and each time the food and service have been fantastic. Wonderful ambiance...it's my and my husband's favorite restaurant, period.

Sanaa is NOT a signature restaurant so it'll cost you one table service credit. Have only been here once but cannot wait to return. I thought the food here was really interesting and GOOD - our server was really knowledgeable and personable, and I liked the view out on to the savanna. When our meals were brought out we both thought the portions looked small, but by the end we were struggling to finish. Everything was really tasty! It's definitely a hidden gem.

Boma...well, I am one of the few people on the forum (or anywhere) that doesn't really like this place. I'm going to try it for breakfast in December, but the dinner was disappointing to me. I think we just aren't buffet people, and the place is so popular that it was quite chaotic during our meal. We were really ready to be wowed and it came up short for us.

So I'd suggest Sanaa for your nice meal...and if you want to spend the extra bucks, give Jiko a try. :)
