Sanaa - lunch or dinner?

Would it be advisable to leave AK to eat lunch at Sanaa (better chance at seeing animals?) and then return to AK for more park fun/later dinner at Flame Tree BBQ or to leave AK around 4 for dinner at Sanaa/had earlier lunch at Flame Tree BBQ?

This is for ~May.

Welcome!!!!!!!!!!!!! A break from mid-day heat might be just what the doctor ordered. AK tends to slow down mid to late afternoon so after a lunch rest full on touring!

Well that depends. AK tends to close rather early. If they are closing at 5:00 PM I would do the early lunch at Flame Tree and make your way to Sanaa for dinner.

agree with yoda. Sanaa is a great place for both lunch or dinner. We have eaten there several times and its well worth it. If the park closes early, spend the day at AK, then head to Kidani to enjoy dinner. Request a window seat!! You may have to wait a little longer, but if its animals you want to see, the wait is worth it. While you wait, you can grab a drink at the bar. The bar set up is very cool and one of my favorite resort bars in WDW. You can also head outside while you wait to the observation area. There are CMs that can tell you about the animals that you are watching. Its a great overall experience.

If AK does close at 5/6, then Sanaa for dinner is what we'll go with. But, if AK stays open to say 7/8, then an early lunch seems feasible. Thanks, guys!

Lunch, its quieter and its nice to get out of the park for an hour or so.

I've only done Sanaa for lunch, so....

Sanaa might be good to save for a day that you are sleeping in and just enjoying your resort (assuming you have a car and/or you are staying at one of the AKL properties).

We're staying at AoA and will not have a car. Thank you, though.

I would recommend it for lunch as long as the park hours of MK make sense to leave and then return. If not, then you can't go wrong with dinner either. Enjoy Sanaa! I consider it to be one of the hidden gems in the Disney restaurant world.

Another vote for Sanaa here. Either way lunch or dinner are great! Plus there has never been a wait while we were there. We asked to sit by the window. Enjoy!
