I am also very curious about this. However, I'm sure there are many Imagineers who live to work, rather than work to live if you get what I mean.
I'm sure the pay scales vary considerably. Marty earning the most, with "seniors" like Tony Baxter doing rather well (Disney magazine did an article a few issues back, lovely house.) The newer “Juniors” who knows???

Wellll...depends 
If you are interning..you're lucky to get paid anything at all..
Salaries vary depending on a LOT of factors..such as what you do, how imperitive to a project you are, and of course how long you have been with the company. Its not too shabby tho to start
....of course assuming there still IS imagineering by then..heh

sadly..im not joking...imagineering isnt near what it used to be...and i strongly fear its existance in the future.
dollar values..uh..again..depends. id say starting salary (guesstimating off the top of my head) is as low as 45k a year..which isnt BAD..but not near what they deserve.

Designing ride and show safety/control systems as an Imagineer for WDI is my dream job. I'm graduating college in Dec '06 with a CS degree... any current Imagineers are welcome to PM me and I will send you my resume
Actually, I would love to talk to an Imagineer in the CS field and see what they do/pick their brain. Does WDI in Glendale do tours?
For now I guess I'll finish out my lunch hour and get back to work for Big Blue...

These companies will probably over shadow imagineering departments pretty soon and Disney will only keep a core group of people in the imagineering to department to work on main concepts, everything else will be outsourced to a company.
This has many benefits for imagineers, for one your job is more secure. When Disney does a project like EE. They may have a core group of 10 to 20 people, but at the height of the project they could have more than 150 people working on the project. Once EE is finished more than 90 pecent of the people working on the project will be let go from Disney, since no other project are in the pipeline and even if there was, the need for 150 people is pretty slim. However, if they work for a company that specializes in creating attractions, the chance of another project being available after they finish one project is higher since the company could be hired to work on a project for another theme park.

Shoot, I'd be happy with a job in retail in one of the resorts, or working in guest services. Anything to be working at WDW and helping people have a magical experience.
