Hello there :)
I need your help : my boyfriend was thinking to do the light saber stuff in Saavi's workshop in august, and well he has changed his mind because he thinks it's too much for a "toy" and prefer that we do other things like a fantastic package with Hollywood brown derby ( to please me). I'd like to offer him the light saber experience experiment, is it possible to come and ask to do it without reservation ???

By “light saber experience experiment” do you mean the Saavi one? If so, you really do need to book that. No harm in asking for a walk-up but be prepared to be disappointed.

He can still build a toy one in Star Traders, the store at the end of Star Tours. Or there’s a store in Disney Springs where you can choose from a variety of light sabers.

Reservations are highly recommended, like Nicky said walk up may be available but maybe not. I think it's better to have a set time to work your schedule around it.

As for the lightsaber being a toy, it is but it is also a full experience. If your boyfriend is a Star Wars fan it might be worth it. Does he collect any Star Wars stuff? If so it would be a good addition to a collection.

I have not built the lightsaber myself, I'm not that big of a Star Wars fan but my husband is a huge Star Wars fan. He has built one and I was able to tag a long to the Savi's experience and even though I didn't build one I think the whole process is really well done and worth it to Star Wars fans. After he built the light saber we had fun taking pictures in Galaxy's Edge with him and his saber. I had gone a Cinderella coach bubble wand as a gag gift for Christmas that year so I brought it along as my light saber, we have some funny pictures of both of us and our light sabers! Anyway, that's just my two cents.

They are really good quality lightsabers. They're definitely not meant to be the kind you play fight with. They're meant more to be displayed or used for photographs.

I did it back in January and it was worth it. The experience is unique. I did it and the droid building, and the lightsaber was definitely the standout one.

fantastic package with Hollywood brown derby ( to please me).
Fantasmic dining package isn't worth it IMO. You're better off just hitting the later show and getting there early enough to grab a decent seat. I do like Brown Derby, though. But Prime Time is definitely my favorite in that park.

DS is a huge SW fan and he did the light saber experience. I tagged along as an onlooker. I can tell you that the light saber is a nice piece of merch that's not just a cheap toy. If your boyfriend is someone who is a collector of SW merch then he should go with the experience and get his saber. As an onlooker to the show, I was happy to have been there ands it was all worth the cost of the event.
I doubt walking up and expecting to get in will work out but you could try.

I will tell you that the experience is a must for any Star Wars fan. The story was amazing. My wife and I did it for a past birthday, and it was such an absolute delight. When I went, we were lucky enough to get such a remarkable team who really were wonderful performers and put on a great show. I could definitely see great things from them from my experiences. If you do go, when your light sabre runs out of power, you can definitely find a youtube video to install another battery! Have fun!

To be honest, we have been to the Hollywood Brown Derby a number of times. However, we didn't care for the current menu and have since stopped going there. It can be a little much for lunch in HS.

if he’s a big SW fan, i could recommend some websites that have better quality & durability replica lightsabers vs the ones they sell in disney, but they’ll cost a bit more. padawan outpost has a more affordable selection, & there’s korbanth. they’re more high end price wise, but again, both are better quality than disney, imo.

True, but you don't get the building experience and show which is the part that's worth the most.

if he is a big star wars fan, do it. Even if you didnt get the lightsaber the experience feels very star wars, and ive seen adults cry because they feel like they are in the world of star wars.
Do not think of it as the lightsaber, consider that a plus. Its the experience. If he isnt much of a star wars fan then it might be a skip. I think thats the question to ask yourself.

You will need reservations, maybe you could do it as a surprise. Others on here might be able to offer more insight like if you could call yourself and pay for it and he wouldnt know. Or if you could pay for it and it wouldnt show up in his iternary.

Also get the photo pass photographers to take pictures of you and your bf especially at night with the lightsaber, they have fun doing it and the pictures end up great.

Heres some info about shipping the lightsaber as well if you dont want to carry it all day or are flying it might be easier and fairly inexpensive.

Hope you have a wonderful time.

word of advice, if you end up staying at BC...don't lug your lightsaber on the walking trek from HS to the resort...it ended up hurting my back a little bit..also I was afraid of shattering the thing..better off to take the boat back...
