Hey there

I am a runner, right now I am trying to heal up an injury before we head to disney next month but hope to get a few runs in when I am there ( to compensate for all my eating, lol ). We went last year but I did not take advantage of any running areas, what are the running trails like and what kind of distances exist for running. I normally run between 8 miles and 13 miles on any given run.

Check with your front desk, as they will have info on running at your particular resort. The nice part about running at Disney is that the resorts are so large that you can usually not leave your resort while running.

You can print off a resort map and it will have the walking/running trail designated on the map. I am pretty sure it tells you the distance too!

Check www.mapmyrun.com and search "Lake Buena Vista." There are several runs on there including the race courses. I also use Bing Maps - it lets you zoom in close to see potential trails and you can draw a path that will give you the distance.

or go to http://www.disneyrunning.com/wdwtrails.html

Good web sites.
If you are at Old Key West Resort, you can run down to Saratoga Springs and back by the waterway.
We`ve cycled round the Fort Wilderness Camp Ground--it would be good to run there as well.

One of my favorite places to run are the trails that connect OKW-SS-DTD. If you are looking for miles this is one of the best places to go. There are all kinds of trails running behind the resorts and connecting them. DTD is particularly fun to run because it is so peaceful before opening. The music is playing and the occasional maintenance worker will wave. It is connected to SS on both ends, one by the bus-stops and over the golf course bridge.

Another great run is around the lake at the BW-Y&BC. Again it is quiet and pleasant in the morning. That may not be long enough if you are looking for near ten miles, but you can always extend it down to DHS and back.

The only place I have found that is not conducive to running is the AK resorts. There isn't a really good trail and the roads are not wide enough when the buses are coming. If your in that area be careful.
