Rumor about characters?

My friend told me "he heard" that only females are allowed to work as characters. Because of the (typically, shorter) height required & any potential harassment would be less with females? I'm pretty sure this is not true based on what I've seen here. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Thanks,
Bryant

100% Horse Puckey.

However, the gender does not always match the character. As in, don't get too cuddly with Minnie if you're not secure in your masculinity. The inside may not match the outside. It has nothing to do with gender of the performer and eveything to do with whether or not you can fit and do the act.

And then there are the face characters. I'm pretty sure Prince Charming isn't duct-taped and sports-bra'ed.

My understanding is height is one of the most important factor in who gets to play whom. There are very few "duck height" people, hence limited sightings of Donald and Jiminy.

Anyone male or female can play any character as long as you fit the height and can play the part I know many females who have been mickey, donald, Max, and other male characters and I also know males who have been Miss Piggy and Little Bopeep. So it really doesn't matter as long as you fit the character.

I've known both males and females who are 'good friends' with Tigger, Pluto and even Goofy.

As for the being 5'2" and playing Mickey, that would be a very tall Mickey Mouse. I thought the cut off for Mickey and Minnie was 5'1 at the most. I maybe wrong though!

I know of a girl now who is friends with Jafar! FYI, you have to be at least 6'2 to do that...

Anyway, this post made me laugh. Only girls in characters hehehe, if it was that would be a lawsuit waiting to happen! :)

Also, don't forget not all characters are ones in fur. Hercules, Prince Charming, John Smith...all of the MALE face characters :) Don't forget about them!

I'm pretty sure when I had my picture taken with Snow White and later with cinderella, they were both females. :animwink: and fine examples they were!!! ;)

Long time reader, first time poster...yay

Who plays the costumed characters has nothing to do with gender and everthing to do with height and body shape.

A girl who goes to my church, here in Indiana, was Mickey for a few years. She's a fairly petite girl, and is around 5'2". I'm pretty sure the height requirements are very small ranges, like say 5'1" to 5'3" for the mice, not just anyone under 5'2".I'm thinking that the Chip and/or Dale in my avatar were females, because one shook my hand and it was a frail, tiny petite hand in side. Pluto was definately a guy.
