The other day I saw something fairly interesting on a new Rugrats-Snow White movie. In the commercial there was a picture of Cinderella's Castle at Disneyworld. I was wondering what was going on. I just thought it was interesting for Nickelodeon to use a Disney icon in their commercial...any thoughts?

It doesn't really make sense...Nikelodian and Rugrats-Universal...Cindy's Castle-Disney. I'd have to see the commercial to believe how they put it I guess.

Nickelodeon is run by Viacom which owns Paramount Pictures.

...and Viacom just aquired Universal Studios; furthermore, Viacom has stated that it will eventually make the theme parks a separate entity.

No, and no.

GE (owner of NBC) bought Universal. Thats why MSNBC, CNBC, and all NBC programming carries the NBC-Universal tag. They are also trying to SELL the Universal parks, not spin them off. They want nothing to do with them.

I've never seen this comercial. But could you have seen somthing for Rugrats in Paris? I believe in that movie they visit EuroReptarland, but I don't remember if there is a castle in that movie.

I just saw the commercial--

OH MY GOD! IT'S A CARBON COPY!!!

At the end when it shows the cover of the video/DVD, in the background there is a terribly done CGI version of Cinderella Castle (well, the spire of the tallest tower is blue rather than gold, but it's unmistakeably Cinderella Castle). Here come the lawsuits!

Is every castle in a television show now considered to be a copy of Cinderella Castle?

This is worst than the DD/Hidden Mickey thread....

Umm...no it really is a copy of it...see the commercial before you start slamming someone

Nick is not just going to say "oh, let's copy Cinderella Castle for our show"....besides, since the movie is based on the story of Snow White, why would they use Cinderella Castle?

Its a parody of sorts im sure...as mentioned before the simpsons did EFCOT...with a complete copy of SSE...and the castle...its not that big of a deal...and it could just be a castle that looks like Cindy's...alot of castles look alike

I wouldn't worry about this too much. Nickelodeon isn't crazy enough to themselves into the sight of lawyers for something stupid like a castle. Actually if you look at bunch of real castles...you'd find that all of the Disney based castles look just like real castles that were made long before Disney ever opened it's doors.

I think you may just be over-reacting a bit. Castles are castles...

I'm reminded of Eddie Izzard's Euro Disney routine from "Dress To Kill". He talked about the castle there and he impersonated one of the builders:

"You should make the castle bigger. They've actually got them here".

Just a random thought.
