Arrggggghhhhh....@#$^@!&*^%

I'm stuck now too. I made plans to be there specifically because Roy was supposed to be there.

Now I'm debating what to do.

Here's the word:

"Regrettably, Roy E. Disney won't be visiting the Walt Disney World Resort to serve as a guest narrator for Candlelight Processional at Epcot this season. Roy has undergone an unanticipated medical procedure, which while successful, has prevented him from traveling at this time. Roy is enormously disappointed to have to cancel his appearance but sends his wishes for a happy, healthy holiday season."

It's good to hear that it went through well!

As sad as I am to hear that he won't be attending this years CP... I am glad that he is okay, and completly understand the reasons why he cannot travel. Health is always more important, especially around the holiday seasons :)

I'm here at a Best Western on Int'l drive right now. I called Disney tonight and got Priority seating for Boma tomorrow.

So,... I was talking to the phone rep and told her about this "horrible rumor" about Roy not being here tomorrow. She told me she has gotten a large number of calls from upset people today concerning this.

I guess most people don't know the reason why.

CT : - )

I'm disappointed but really glad he's OK.

Having been to EPCOT tonight (to see Roy), I can give a little report.

When I was in Italy, wanting to cross to meet my parents (in line for Candlelight), I couldn't because the parade was starting. 1/2 hour to the show, and the standby line was past Italy. I had to "go around both feet to get from my left eye to my right eye"- I had to go all the way to Morocco and come back up the opposite side of the road. About 20 minutes to the show, the priority seating line was backed up past Morocco. Although those beople were being seated, the back of the line didn't even start to move for about another 5 minutes. All those people here to see Roy!

Edward James Olmos was GREAT!

I saw the CLP tonight and, too, was disappointed that Roy would not be orating.
However, Olmos did a very rousing rendition of the Christmas story and I would highly recommend that no one cancel because of Roy's illness.
In addition to Olmos, the all-professional orchestra is TIGHT... especially the 6 herald trumpeteers.
The mass-choir is good... but for goodness' sake... I wish the Voices of Liberty would concentrate more on pitch rather than the "Disney-ish" swooping to and from notes that they're noted for. While good singers, the fake energy that they emitted was/is a little much for this type of performance.
Can't say enough about the orchestra though! AWESOME!

Thanks!

Glad you liked it. I was going to spend the day at EPCOT today, but it's too cold!

But what's this about the Voices of Liberty? They put a lot of work into their stuff...I think their beautiful! :) I just wasn't sure what you meant.

Voices of Liberty

Don't get me wrong, Grizz... I love the Voices of Liberty... on their own...
They have a very unique "Disney" style of presenting their program in which they stray from classical tendencies (i.e. swooping from note to note, an emphasis on facial expressions and excitement, and a "pop"-ish sound.)
In the American Adventure rotunda, their product is great...

However, when combined with the orchestra and mass-choir which play and sing in a traditional classical style, the VOL give a sort of "jaggedness" to the overall sound.

Being a classicaly trained singer, perhaps I'm jaded. :animwink:

It sill was the most moving musical experience I've ever had at a Disney park though!! We're talking mega-goosebumps.

While I'm on the post... for those who are interested in vocal music, take a stroll through the Stave Church in Norway... The exhibit is very interesting, but keep an ear open for the music... The particular selections I heard may be part of a loop, but it is a group called the Hilliard Ensemble; an all male vocal quartet from England which specializes in early chant and Renaissance polyphony... On this recording, their voices are accompanied by a Norse saxophonist named Jan Garbarek. The combination of sounds in VERY worth checking out... A CD is available in the Helly Hansen store (Hilliard Ensemble "Officium")

Hope this wasn't too out of bounds for this post!

Thanks!
