Voices of Liberty
Don't get me wrong, Grizz... I love the Voices of Liberty... on their own...
They have a very unique "Disney" style of presenting their program in which they stray from classical tendencies (i.e. swooping from note to note, an emphasis on facial expressions and excitement, and a "pop"-ish sound.)
In the American Adventure rotunda, their product is great...
However, when combined with the orchestra and mass-choir which play and sing in a traditional classical style, the VOL give a sort of "jaggedness" to the overall sound.
Being a classicaly trained singer, perhaps I'm jaded. :animwink:
It sill was the most moving musical experience I've ever had at a Disney park though!! We're talking mega-goosebumps.
While I'm on the post... for those who are interested in vocal music, take a stroll through the Stave Church in Norway... The exhibit is very interesting, but keep an ear open for the music... The particular selections I heard may be part of a loop, but it is a group called the Hilliard Ensemble; an all male vocal quartet from England which specializes in early chant and Renaissance polyphony... On this recording, their voices are accompanied by a Norse saxophonist named Jan Garbarek. The combination of sounds in VERY worth checking out... A CD is available in the Helly Hansen store (Hilliard Ensemble "Officium")
Hope this wasn't too out of bounds for this post!
Thanks!
