Rope Drop Timing

I haven't been to DLR in almost 12 years. What is the current rope drop procedure? From what I can gather from videos it appears there are different groups lined up on Main Street depending on when you get through the gate.

I'll be on NY time, so I'll plan on getting there early. If I get to the Downtown Disney security by 7:15am, does that give me enough time to be towards the front at 8am for park opening? I'm going on President's Day, so I assume it will be packed.

They allow people through the gates and on Main Street approximately 730 and up to the hub where they will drop the rope at 8am. People will start lining up at the gates prior to 7 am. So it really all depends how close you want to be to the rope. I am no expert on security lines they seem to vary to much to find a pattern but I do not see a reason DTD Security would be too busy except with hotel guest but then again you said it will be Presidents Day.

One question that may impact the OP: have they brought back Magic Mornings/EMH yet?

It's certainly possible they will open security a little earlier than normal, given that it will be a holiday. 7:00 may be safer if you want to be close to the front.
