Rope Drop and Extra Magic Hours

Hello,

I have been to WDW many times but never been at the Magic Kingdon early enough to see the rope drop. Is there anything special such as a ceremony. Is it worth waking up so early for. I am going to WDW in May and the day we have planned for Magic Kingdom it has the Morning extra magic hours, on this day would they have the rope drop when the magic hours start or when the park opens for the general public?

Thanks for all the info!

They do a welcome show before the park opens. On an EMH morning they show a shorten version of the show. To see the whole show you have to go on a day without EMH. It usually lasts around 10 minutes on normal days and only a couple of minutes on EMH mornings. If you haven't seen it you will like it, but you will want to see the whole show and not the one on EMH mornings.

I think it is worth it to go when they are showing the whole show. I video taped it and it brings a huge smile to my face when I watch it. It's another great Disney experience.

After you watch it race into Main Street Bakery for breakfast! :)

The look on my kids faces during the welcome show totally makes it worth it to me. It is the sweetest thing, we will definitely be there for it again next trip. :D

The welcome show is great and my fiancee who has been there 6 times has never seen it because her and her family never went early enough. When we went in 2009 it rained in the morning pretty badly so we never went early enough to see it.

We're going in October with my 2 kids (her first with kids) and she's excited.

Many people have said the EMH show is too abbreviated to enjoy it as much as the full show.
