Room Upgrades

I have read a few posts (it has been some time ago) concerning requesting room upgrades at check-in. As is so often the case, I don't remember too many of the tips. The only thing that sticks out in my mind is that one post said "they have really cut back on upgrades." Anyway, we are going to be at the Beach Club later this month and I would appreciate any advice that could be shared about successful attempts to get room upgrades at check-in at Disney Resorts. Thanks for the help!

If you are booked in a standard room and there are rooms available with a water view, they will usually upgrade you without having to ask. If they do not automatically do it, ask. They may not have any upgradable rooms available at the time of your check in and therefore will not be able to upgrade you. It all depends on the time of year that you are going and what the crowds are going to be like.

You're going later this month, as in March, as in Peak Season?

I'm not saying it won't happen, but I would go in with the attitude of not expecting it.

reports that today, March 9 was crowded.

Crowded parks do not necessarily mean crowded resorts, especially MK on Sunday, which gets lots of local day-guests.

In a way, it makes sense that they would have cut back on them. People can be nasty greedy creatures. I'm sure there were scenes at check-in where someone had a major hissy fit because they didn't want to pay the extra $40 for courtyard view, but somehow felt entitled to it. And why should I pay extra if it is possible to get the good view for nothing?

Good luck to you, but I haven't heard much about anyone getting an upgrade for a long time.

Have a great time, no matter where your room is.
