Room surprises

So this next trip we're taking in October will be my son's girlfriend's first trip ever. We want to do something special for the two of them and they'll have a room of their own so we wanted to get gift baskets to put in the room but I don't like any of the gift baskets that they have with Disney Floral and Gifts. (To be fair, I do like some of them but they're just not what we're looking for.)

My question is would it be possible to put together gift baskets of our own, with exactly what we're looking for in each basket, wrap them up in cellophane like you see gift baskets in the store, send them to the resort and have the resort open them and put them in the room the day we arrive?

That way we can have exactly what we want in the basket and it will be exactly the way we want it. I'm just not sure they're going to take a package we have shipped to the resort and open it even if we ask them to.

DIsney (almost certainly) won’t put things in your room before you arrive. There’s always the chance that even if that room is assigned to you, that for some reason you get moved. Whether because you ask to do so, for a technical reason, someone else asks to be moved before you get there etc.

And if you’re not listed on the reservation you won’t be able to open the door and sneak in before they do. Unless you can steal your son’s phone / magic band!

You could ask Bell Services to deliver it after you arrive and your son has entered the room. Or you’ll need to get your son in on the secret.

I have used the flower & gift service before and haven’t been over thrilled with some of the selections. So I’ve also started doing room gift items myself for DW. I put thing out when she’s out of the room.
I’m fairly certain Disney wont open your packages even if asked. I’d ship them down and pick them up when you arrive. Then after your son and his gf settle in ask him to take gf to show her around the resort. Tell him you’ll wait for him in his room to return. Then when they leave sneak the gift baskets in and leave.

Just to be clear, if I did order from Disney Floral and Gifts do they have it already in the room sitting on the bed waiting for us when we get there?

Not in my experience, for the reasons given above. Until you open the door to the room it isn’t “your” room. They don’t want the risk of a $200 gift ending up in some random stranger’s room.
We ordered for my DS’s 21st. Had to call twice to chase it up after we arrived at 7pm, and they finally knocked on the door at 1am with the cake.

No. When we used the DF&G service they waited til we checked in and contacted us to ask what hours we would be out of the room so they could deliver the gift surprises to an empty room and my DW was then surprised coming back from the park. They had said deliveries would be better handled not on the day of check in. I used them on three different trips and although everything went well, I felt for the money spent I could do just as well and cheaper making up my own surprises.

I think that I am just going to make baskets for both of them and have them waiting in the living room at our house on our departure day since they are both going to be staying in his old room the night before the trip anyway. That way I get exactly what I want and I will not have to go through the trouble of trying to make sure they are out of the room.

Pretty sure that wasnt one of the options in the Disney Flower & Gift selections. And I checked all the categories of selections. Must have been one of those Disney CM's we hear about trying to magic up your resort room stay.
You have to hit Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Start to access that menu.
