Room Request Question

Ok so this is my first posting although I have been reading for quite some time now. This site is very addicting!
My question is when should I make a room request if I have one and how should I go about doing that? We are staying at Wilderness Lodge this summer and I would like one of a specific group of rooms but am not sure how I should request that to have the best chances. Do I fax my request a few days in advance or have my travel agent request it now or something else? I am sure someone here has done this and I was hoping you could offer some advice. Thanks so much!

**Also does anyone know if you can request in advance to be the flag family of the day or do you have to wait until you check in?

Any room requests should be noted on your reservation by you or your travel agent, if you have one. If any changes are made to the reservation, all requests should be double-checked at that time.

Many resorts have stopped taking room request faxes.

The less specific your request the better chance it has of being filled. In other words, if you say "these 4 reservations are traveling together, please place our rooms as close together as possible. We prefer the first floor of building ABC, but understand if that is not possible." is much preferred over "we would like to be in rooms 3101, 3103, 3105 and 3107".... since, if those rooms aren't available, they have no idea what you were trying to do.

Also, don't be afraid to ask at check in to see if things can be moved around if the rooms don't seem like a good fit at the time. You may need to wait a little (or not) but many front desk staff are happy to try and grant your requests.

Flag family can only be done once you are there.

Welcome to the board.

As for your question. If you used a travel agent than you will need to contact them and have them add your room request to your reservation. Typically we do this when we initially book, but as long as it is ahead of time you should be ok. Preferably prior to your arrival. If you made the reservations yourself than you can call and make the request. Keep in mind a request is just that. Disney will try to grant your request if it is possible, but it is not guaranteed. If you wait until you check in to make the request it will greatly reduce the chance of getting your request, so make sure you get it in ahead of time. Of course I do remind the CM's at check in too. Have a great trip and welcome again to WDWMAGIC
