We are a family of 6 (2 adults, 4 young kids-youngest is 4). All Disney property hotels are forcing us to stay in 2 rooms (no villas or cabins available). We have stayed on trips other than Disney in 1 room. Has anyone ever tried just checking in as 5, while really being 6 (obviously you wouldn't want all 6 their when checking in). We are looking into the Polynesian. Thanks.

I have never tried this. I would think it would be hard to do at Disney because you will purchase park hoppers for all six of you and so they will know the actual size of your party. If your youngest were a little smaller I believe they would have allowed you to rent a crib and all six of you could stay in one room.
Have you tried one of the moderate resorts? Often you can get two adjoining rooms for the price of one deluxe resort room.

I see you are going to the Polynesian. This is where we want to stay as well in November. Are you aware of any discount codes we could use as we would need them if we are to get 2 rooms. Also, do you know if the conceirge package is worth it? also, we are planning to stay on disney for our entire stay (7 days). Does it make sense to buy the "Dreamaker" package tickets at the same time as the room, or buy separate? Thanks.

I'm not advocating doing this, in fact I'm against it, not because I work for Disney, but for your own comfort and safety.
You don't have to purchase tickets at C/I, or all 6 at one time if just getting hoppers. You can also prepurchase them.
You won't be able to book a dreammaker or buy UPH if you want all 6 of you to go (if you try to fit 6 in a room). UPH (what you get with dreammaker) have to be sold on the reservation. So if you've got 6 in a room, then you will have to pay for an additional ticket (non UPH) for that person.

We usually buy our tickets seperately b/c we just don't use the Ultimate Park Hopper. The UPH are quite a bit more expensive (even when purchased with a package) so we reserve our room and then order our park hopper tix. It depends on what you plan to do...will you be going to Disneyquest or to waterparks? If so the package with UPH's are the way to go. If you only plan to hit the parks I would by the regular park hoppers seperately.
I just tried to use the new fall and holiday codes to get my room rate lowered at the Poly, but nothing was available. We have a garden view close to the walkway to TTA and our rate is $344. Good luck in whatever you choose!!

Have you considered getting a deluxe room? I think it is the ones at AK and WL that have 2Q beds in a separate room with a sofa bed in the living room. I know they cost more than regular rooms, but they do sleep 6 and you could get some sort of a discount. They are cheaper than a Home-away-from-home. Good luck.

we are a family of 7 we have done that with other vacations but not disney. We feel like we are beeing punished for having a big family even going to resturants we get the gratuity on the bill.

I would say yes you could get away with it but like Turkey, I don't suggest it. Fitting 6 people in a regular sized hotel room would be very uncomfortable. It would just be better to get 2 adjoining rooms, and that way the whole family will be much more comfortable. Yes it's more expensive, but if it's cost that you are worried about than you could always think about downgrading from the Polynesian, a deluxe resort to a moderate resort like Port Orleans or Coronodo Springs. They are still very nice resorts, and are of course cheaper.

Look into Port Orleans Riverside. We stayed there in 2001, 2 adults, 4 kids ranging from 1 to 11 yo. They have rooms that have rooms with trundle beds and we asked for a pack n play. I sympathise with you having a family of six is not easy to book. We are planning to go back next year and are looking into taking a camper and staying at Fort Wilderness.
You said you are thinking of staying at the Poly., I think you could stay at Port Orleans or one of the other moderate resorts and get two rooms for the same price as one room at the Poly. If you did that the two adults could have a room of their own and the kids could stay in an adjoining connected room. With 4 kids the adults do not get any privacy and this would be away to actually get some while you are on vacation and get some down time away from the hustle and bustle and yelling and screaming and fighting and the "I want, I want, I want" and just plain noise and....and ....and you know what I mean. Good luck and have fun.

i booked a room for 379 a night at saratoga, a two bedroom villa that can sleep eight. have you looked into home away from home propertys
